The Revenant. So much hype, SO BORING.

Yes. Ugh.

Is that the one where Leonardo DiCaprio has sex with a bear? (I'm not sure if that literally happens, but I've seen enough people talk about it that I'm not entirely sure they're joking.)

9. I really thought the art direction would be enough to overcome boring writing, but it wasn’t. The only reason I even remember having seen it is because it’s a handy answer for disappointment threads.

Tree of Life. So fucking boooooring. I didn't even pay for the ticket, my sister had a pass and invited me, we were yawning the whole time and yet we never dared get up and walk out on it. Lesson learned, if any movie gets as bad as this one day, I'll just walk out.

La La Land, oddly. It wasn't that it was bad as such, it was just so boring and I had so been looking forward to it.

This. It wasn't bad, or badly made, it was just... blaaaah.

The middle felt like an ending to me, and then... it kept going. Not that I dislike long stories (and it wasn't really that long IMO), but it was like... it wasn't sure where it wanted to go, and was throwing in drama for the sake of throwing in drama.

My BFF and I watched it, and when it was done, we both turned to each other and said, "Well, that was a movie we watched." Didn't hate it, didn't love it, it just... exists as a thing we saw.

Just curious, but what didn't you like about it?

Godzilla 2014 and the FF movie they did a few years back, both were awful and a waste of my time and money.

Godzilla at least had some very cool shots, but they were not worth the time or money investment to watch.

FF: The Spirits Within or FF7: Advent Children? Or some other FF movie I'm not aware of?

The live action Cinderella movie. I almost walked out, but I stuck around in the hopes that it would get better. It did not.

Aw. I enjoyed that. Not much depth. But it was pretty and the music was good.

Inception. Holy fuck. The then-SO and i kept looking at each other going 'is it going to fucking end soon? Will the fucking van *ever* hit the water, holy *god* be over now!!'

So so so boring.

Red Sparrow. The book (and at least the first sequel) is so good and the movie just savages it.

Maleficent. The ending really disappointed me. The movie was supposed to be about redeeming an evil character and showing that reality is more complicated, and yet it made Stephan completely evil and insane. I wanted a redemption ending for him too.

CW: sexual assault

A tie between The Hurt Locker and The Last Jedi.

Magic Mike. It was way more dramatic than I anticipated, and I hated his love interest. (Loved me some Magic Mike 2 though. That's the content I wanted in the first place.)

Probably The Matrix Reloaded

What a strange mess of a movie. Though Alien: Resurrection was pretty damn disappointing. And gross.

It's hard to think of the worst example because I probably quit and watched something else! Maybe Rogue One, for a recent example. It wasn't terrible but I guess heard so many people rave about it that I expected more. Jyn Erso was such a boring character, woodenly portrayed. The more interesting side characters didn't get much screen time. I don't know... I just didn't get the hype.
