I really like naked or crumb coated cakes, I think they can make stunning wedding cakes when decorated prettily, but god almighty it might just be the lighting but that cake looks so sad and tired Ruby you were on a nationally televised baking competition what is this.

That's one ugly cake. It's like they were using leftover frosting and then run out of that.

Everything about those are awful. Their wedding clothes are awful. You can afford to tailor that shit. The after party clothes suck. The cake sucks. The Styrofoam containers suck.

I am super happy for Ruby though! I have always liked her.

I like them when it's all-white frosting and they are decorated with flowers and fruit and meant to be very let's-get-married-in-a-barn "rustic," but if you're going to start tinting the frosting and so on then no.

Yeah, they can look good! But this one definitely doesn't.

I distinctly remember her saying during the Bakeoff final wedding cake challenge that "Weddings are an exercise in narcissism" or similar!

That doesn't seem entirely incongruous with these pics tbh

Not in the fandom but that is a hideous cake.

Just serve wedding muffins, God damn it. Stop bringing cakes into this mess. If you're feeling lazy just go down to publix and buy a container of that sweet ass butter cream and slap it on your three layer muffin so, like, the caterpillar, it becomes a beautiful butterfly that people want to eat.

Fucking naked cakes. The only thing worse is when you go to a birthday party and the birthday kid is allergic to everything under the fucking sun and instead of making a gluten free, egg free, dairy free, sugar free, peanut free, dye free, taste free cupcake for little braylea or kreestofer or whatever, the mother brings out a whole sheet cake of sadness the rest of the party is expected to eat without gagging. And stupid Karen paid $129 for this abomination against man and God and by the powers of pinterest and whole foods, she will not let you go until you've had a slice of teeth cracking celebration. We get it. It's little Peatmoss Haberdashery's special day, but even he hates his cake and it's the only thing he knows. Don't force it onto 27 of his classmates because his invite to any other party will be conveniently lost in the mail because no one wants YOU at their party, Karen.

Congrats to her. Even if she was my least favorite contestant ever.

Crumb coat cakes just look weird and unfinished to me. I suspect that the trend began when someone ran out of time to finish decorating a cake and decided to pass it off as a deliberate decision.

I, for one, fully welcome the crumb coat overlords, for frosting is cloying and revolting, and used as a crutch to disguise how shitty a cake is. Red velvet is a perfect example of this. Bland cake loaded with so much food coloring you can taste it, but everyone has boners for the cream cheese frosting, so they convince themselves the cake part is good.
