I just saw this news today, and I'm really pissed. Luke Cage was good. I don't care about Iron Fist. But Luke Cage was good and also important.

"Luke Cage was good."

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. That is like saying Age of Ultron is good. It had good parts, but overall it sucked.

Curate's egg?

I disagree with that. I think Luke Cage had a few bad parts, but for the most part it was really good.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, the second half of the first season is as bad as Iron Fist's first season. The second season was just forgettable. Honestly, Luke Cage is just a boring character. Hard to do much with a guy who can't be hurt and just punches shit.

I disagree completely with everything you just said.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
It is okay to be wrong.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
That's really not as clever or funny as you might think it is.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Worst thing about that user is that I don't think it's a troll doing it for the lulz, I bet it's someone so delusional and up their own ass that they can't fathom the idea that not everyone shares their taste in media. It's almost sad.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-22 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
There's definitely a whiff of something on FS today and whether it's troll or someone being an asshat, it's honestly hard to tell.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-22 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Seems more like someone is taking everything in the worst meaning = having a bad day and taking it out on us.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. Punching things tend to make things worse in the real world and not make anything better. It's like the makers realized this too and then didn't know what to do with their impotent superhero.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. I also question the "important" part. Maybe if you are a teen and your world view is super narrow?

Having a show- particularly a genre show/superhero show headlined by a black character is important. This is important in the same way Black Panther was important. It is also good, but its mere existence is important. Also, a lot of African Americans are involved in the creation of the show, which is also important.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, but it would have been better if they had managed to actually make an interesting show too.

The best character, as in not-falling-totally-flat, was Mariah. A great actress in a layered role with big impact.

Interesting is entirely subjective, though. I thought it was very interesting.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
But they did. The show was well received, people liked the characters. This isn't even debatable, RT and IMDB scores are facts. Just because you dislike this show doesn't mean the rest of the world shares your opinion.

"Netflix canceled the series on October 19, 2018."

(Anonymous) 2018-10-22 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Netflix cancelled the series because of "creative differences" not because of a lack of viewership.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-22 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
Netflix said they cancelled it for that reason

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't agree. The good parts of Luke Cage far outweighed the bad, IMO.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree that the show is important, absolutely, but the second half of the first season was much weaker than the first. Cottonmouth was a hugely compelling villain, especially set up opposite Mariah, and I was excited to see where she would take things, but the second Diamondback took over with his boring "motivation", I lost interest. Mariah should have been the top villain for the rest of the season, 100%.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree, which is why the second season was so much stronger than the first. They stuck with one story (though with rotating adversaries) all the way through. And I really wanted to see where they were going after that shock ending!

(Anonymous) 2018-10-21 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
+1. Loved the first half of S1, disliked the second one, and loved S2 for Mariah. Other anon should definitely check S2 if they haven't done it yet.
