You can probably clear the manga in about a month. The "episodes" move pretty fast if you read quickly.

The anime is another story.

At 20 minutes an episode (assuming you skip the opening and closing credits) and nearing on 800 by now, let's see...

267 hours which is ~2 weeks of viewing at ~20 hours a day nonstop.

More realistically it's a couple of months, and possibly up to six.

Oh, and I forgot - there are a few feature-length films that are quasicanonical and need to be watched to understand a few things that get discussed in fandom. That said, *technically speaking* they are not canon and can be omitted if time constraints prohibit.

Also there is considerable heat over whether one should watch the 'filler' arcs, and the quality *does* vary somewhat. However on the whole, I do like them and I feel it's worth watching them.

This link gives a pretty good breakdown of what to watch and when:

We started a month ago, we're at 264! (skipping filler)

I wish my roommate would want to watch filler before we get to the current episodes, but she wants to marathon it and then we can go back. I could just go watch them myself without her, but we're making it a team watch so I guess I'll just be patient. :< Is it ok to watch the entire series without the movies or is there a point you should probably interject them?
