You can't just cross the fast food - fast casual divide like that, though

Honestly, that's part of why I'm vary about re-reading it too.

Polgara was my idol when I was a teenager, to the point where I don't know where I'd be today if I hadn't honed my shoddy English skills on reading Polgara the Sorceress. If I was "uh, okay" about the way that series went about women twenty years ago, I'm not sure I could stomach it at all today.

Yup. I only recently read these (well, only the first 3 so far). I like them in spite of this, but he really isn't great with female characters. Other than Polgara. I like her.

Taco Bell is kind of gross, though.

I thought there was always theatre secrets on here?

He doesn't cheat the community. And a small business owner being cautious about money is pretty damn reasonable.

Learned the slip stitch and fixed up the last of the five coats that needed fixing up. Three of them I use, two I'm planning to donate. I'll have to put my hand-stitching to the washing machine test first, though *g*

It's the best, isn't it! And I haven't had new bedding in years so tonight I'm going to shower and put on my new pajamas, get in my bed with new, clean bedding, a big mug of tea, and read ALL the fic!

Yes. Tacos of all kind are good. Though, I prefer fajitas. Especially from my local Mexican restaurant.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-06 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
What movie is this?

(Anonymous) 2018-11-06 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
...

It's a comedy show. They make fun of *everybody*. They make fun of Homer's stupidity and impulse control, they make fun of Lisa's obessive do-gooding and investment in being The Smart One, they make fun of the church, they make fun of the school system, of the entertainment industry, of housewives, of health and safety officials, of...

It would be weird if they *didn't* make fun of him in some way.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-06 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
The real shocker to me was when it turned out that all the books were co-written with his wife Leigh. They decided just to use his name on the cover to "appeal to the audience", which, okay, but it really disturbed me considering all the stuff about how women are so mysterious and all the great sorceress Polgara wants to do is pop out babies and make soap. Soap, of all things! It's so fucking messy and gross (in pre-modern times)!

There are lots of taquerias here so I haven't been to a Taco Bell/Chipotle in years. I love fish tacos, they're probably my favorite, and I get them with the works (red cabbage slaw, fresh chopped tomatoes and onions, a little cheese, and lime wedges to squeeze the juice. They're sooooo good!

Re: I'm going to posit that that's not specific to that profession.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-06 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
da

would people even believe there were no gays in theatre?

(Anonymous) 2018-11-06 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Yeeeah... bit of a shock rereading it as an adult and seeing how they parsed Barak and Merel's relationship...

I really dislike this movie.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-06 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not at all fan of Kubrick's work in general, but this one in particular is really not for me, but some people are really... passionate about it.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-06 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
One Flew is a great movie (IMO) but it's very heavy and IIRC the sex-gender dynamics in the movie, while not objectionable, aren't necessarily comfortable either. American Beauty is much, much worse and much, much less comfortable, it's shit, don't watch it

wrt Clockwork Orange - I think you can pretty much watch any post-Strangelove Stanley Kubrick movie and immediately know whether or not you want to watch the rest of them or not. He's such a distinctive director. I think The Shining is probably the best choice for that but IDK.

Jack In The Box tacos are weirdly delicious, if I'm getting fast food. Otherwise it's taquerias for me.

Mm. Yeah, that's kinda true.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-06 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
It's an... interesting movie, and the theme has a lot of meaning. But I don't like the movie.

I'd probably feel differently about it if it weren't for one scene that just put me off. I don't like watching that shit.
