Totally not the point, but since everyone seems to be talking Loki today-
As a fan of actual Norse Mythology, the idea of Thor/Loki/Odin/whoever being made into another probably even less actuate installment is pretty much like crying wolf at this point...

It's happened so many times, (and hell, I've actually had to argue with someone that these characters were taken from mythology, and not marvels own creation;;) that I've just become numb to the idea. For better or worse, and worse (much worse) is where I'm leaning here;;
That being said, the fact they secured Loki's actor in the series, goes to show that they're at least attempting an effort. I doubt it would be cheap to hire him, even if it's disney. So to me it means that they care about keeping the franchise as close to the original as possible... maybe..

Technically, the movie characters were based on the Marvel comics characters, which are very loosely based on the Norse pantheon. If you're waiting for any of the MCU stuff to align more with the Prose Edda, that's not going to happen because that's not the canon sandbox they're playing in. And while I'm sure that none of this is news to you, your fandom experience will probably be a lot less aggravating if you stop expecting the property based on 70-year-old comic book characters to be accurate to the 800+ year-old mythology that it stole names from.

There's also loads of fanfic that does try to blend elements of the myths into MCU canon so let's not pretend that Marvel fans are completely/deliberately ignorant of the Norse origins. Some of them have even got *into* Norse mythology through Marvel. And heck even the comics flirt with many elements of the Eddas. But it's never going to be exactly the same as they're not meant to be the exact same characters and I'm fine with it. Loki is Thor's brother in Marvel continuity rather than Odin's blood brother? Doesn't bother me.

(What we have might not even be the original orignals anyway due to the relative lack of written record. I could go on for hours over how much Loki has been getting bad press for c1000 years and might not have been the pure evil figure he's often designated as in other media but that's a whole other rant. He's also not the only mythological figure to be crammed through the lens of modern audience expectations so I try not to stress about it.)

I'm actually glad to hear that some people have gotten into the mythology because of the comics/movies.

I mean... yeah...
I guess I should have specified that my annoyance came from, well, exactly what you said;; The fact that the original comic series essentially stole their identities without any intention of properly representing them in the first place... I'm not expecting that to change any time soon either;; I'm just disappointed that it happened in the first place;;

Rather, I meant that even with my reluctance to participate in the franchise- (my argument happened to be face to face, not within the fandom)- that the idea that Loki's actor will reprise his role in the spinoff might mean that the creators put enough care/effort in making it, that Tom wanted to continue the roll. But more likely than not, he was fixed in by some contract that gave him little choice in the matter, and the creators are banking on having a famous actor, rather then any formidable story line...;;
