Inspired by #2: Do you plot out your fics well in advance?

(Anonymous) 2018-11-17 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Or do you just make it up as you go along without much outlining or planning? If you outline, do you manage to follow your own plan or does everything change?

Re: Inspired by #2: Do you plot out your fics well in advance?

(Anonymous) 2018-11-17 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a vague outline because I usually know how I want my fics to end, but I have trouble getting there. I write out all my favorite bits first and then have to figure out how to connect them all, so the outlining helps.

Re: Inspired by #2: Do you plot out your fics well in advance?

(Anonymous) 2018-11-17 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
the rare fic I have go long enough that there would be frequent updates or new chapters, half and half. some planning at least for plot, but the meaty fun of the story just happens when it happens.

one-offs though? mostly just a summary of what I want to happen and everything else is by the seat of my pants.

Sometimes I plot them out in advance, sometimes I just pull it out of my ass.

I will write the beginning of sections with the general idea and add and edit bits and pieces as I want.

I generally write a garbled summary of everything i want to happen in my multi chaps, so that I'm never stuck going "uhhhhh what now". And I generally stick to the larger overarching plan, but sometimes things change (like sideships, or if a character dies etc).

Re: Inspired by #2: Do you plot out your fics well in advance?

[personal profile] rudehannibal 2018-11-18 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
I once wrote a time travel fic where the canon female character was going to become an established character's mother in the endgame. I thought this was incredibly obvious from the first page of the story. Still, I had someone write to me and ask if I was going to pull a stunt and make this random, original side-character into the mom instead and part of me was like 'man no one would see THAT coming' and actually considered it. But then my shipper's heart won out and I went with the original, obvious ending. Mostly because I know all the shippers would have be outraged/devastated if I veered. So I guess I sort of have a plan but I'm willing to throw out mad changes at a whim if I feel like I can get away with it?

I don't plan much outside the outline of the story and some scenes I want to add. Sometimes my plans change and I tend to move stuff here and there. I'd rather have a lot of liberty regarding what I will and won't do with my stories and adding what I find entertaining.

I don't outline, but I usually have a good idea of where a fic is going. I definitely know where it's going before I start posting, even if I don't have it all written.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-18 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I usually have a vague outline, but for the most part I just go along with it as I write it.

Accents

(Anonymous) 2018-11-17 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
What are your favorite accents to listen to? What's the sexiest accent? What's the most fun accent to talk in?

Re: Accents

(Anonymous) 2018-11-17 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I love all British accents. Yes, all of them, not just posh RP or whatever. They're all interesting to listen to. I don't know if I find any one accent sexier than the others... it depends on the person talking, really.

I like German accents. I never try to speak in accents though, because I sound ridiculous.

Re: Accents

(Anonymous) 2018-11-17 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
The most fun accent to talk in is definitely Italian / Italian-American.

Best to listen to / sexiest are definitely northern England, Scotland, and Ireland. No doubt in my mind. I guarantee it. Also New England accents are pretty decent too.

FACT

(Anonymous) 2018-11-18 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Fahrenheit is better than Celsius for normal every day things.

One, who cares if C is based on water?

Two, the "safe" zone for C is only like 5-30. So the majority of the "main" C scale is useless for humans.

And the BIGGEST reason? F is WAY more precise. For ever 10 degrees of C you got 18 degrees of F. So many more options.
