168- I AGREE SO MUCH! Where is the fandom indeed? I loved that book so much it was unreal. And I too am studying English Lit (6th form level but still...). The last chapters were amazing..... The second one was definitely not as good although I quite liked the third one. This book needs a fandom though- it affected me more than anything else I’ve ever read!

havent read them all yet but to the not!secret regarding Mos def as the 11th doctor i just want to say HELL YES. Yeah he's american and also there will probably be a black prime minister before there's a black doctor but oh man I love Mos def, I would totally love to see him as like some kind of dorky 100 yrs old time lord XD

Wait, this is the guy who played Ford? I think I may be on board this dream-casting ticket. Too bad he's American...I can't see an American actor getting cast.

But seriously, I've seen all the usual proposals (David Bowie? Eddie Izzard? am I the only one who thinks those choices would be epic disasters?), and this is the first one that really sort of...grabs me. I'd be apprehensive about anyone pulling off the role now (forget, "the next Doctor must be pretty," the next Doctor must be able to fucking ACT), but he's got something there that makes me think he could be a Doctor.

And that's the first proposal for the Eleventh Doctor that hasn't made me want to cry like a bitch at the thought of losing Ten.

Weird too, because while I previously had no conscious objections to a black Doctor, I couldn't see it, but now I can. I can see him being his own thing enough to side-step many of the inevitable comparisons to Tennant in a way that a white actor couldn't; that casting would definitely shake the role up.

In short, I approve!
