I honestly don't find these shows all that comparable beyond the surface elements. They both have some nostalgia factor, and they both have ensemble casts and sci-fi elements, but when it comes to narrative tonality and style, they're both very distinct, and very different from each other.

Personally I like them both, and I don't feel inclined to pit them against each other, any more than I feel inclined to pit, say, Mindhunter and The Alienist against each other because they both involve law enforcement, gruesome crime, and serial killers.

My hopes for S2 of Dark are that the show manages to hold together, and not unravel into chaotic nonsense under the weight of the narrative's sheer complexity.

My hopes for S3 of Stranger Things are that the creators can find a sense of narrative cohesion and purpose for the story - underpinnings that felt a little cobbled together in S2.
