Does your shipping preferences line up with your sexual orientation?

(Anonymous) 2019-01-04 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Why or why not?

100% polar opposite. In real life I'm not attracted to anything. In fiction no fictional combinations bother me, so I'm happy to enjoy them all.

My real life track record is 95% lesbian, but 95% of what I read is m/m. I think it's just because same-sex stuff is attractive to me. I think if I were a dude, I'd still be gay. It's that het does nothing for me.

Not really, haha. I'm a lesbian, but I ship a little bit of everything. If a relationship sparks for me, the genders of the characters involved don't really mean a whole lot to me.

That said, I do think I gravitate a little more towards m/m, for similar reasons to today's secret-maker: there's a layer of fantasy there that I can't have in pairings with women, because if m/m is written unrealistically (but hotly), I don't know the difference. If m/f or f/f is written unrealistically (but hotly), as much as I love to go with the flow of porn, I have that moment of "I have never experienced [x] in that way" that kind of takes me out a little bit.

Nope. I'm asexual, and mostly read m/m because the lack of women means I don't have to put up with the same kinds of expectations in my fic as I do IRL and still get my romance fix.

Eh. I'm bisexual. When it comes to shipping, I'm all over the map, but I have more M/M ships than anything else. And when it comes to erotica, at this point I read mostly M/M and F/F (or same sex moresomes). Just, a lot of m/f sex in fics is boring. I do tend to only read porny fics If I'm into at least one of the characters. But I have quite a few ships where I'm not actually attracted to anyone involved.

Um...sort of? I'm asexual and don't ship anything in a sexual way. Romantically, any gender combination is fine as long as I like the character dynamics.

I'm bi in a hetero relationship and I pretty much read slash and femslash. Having sex with girls IRL is something I really miss, so it's my way of getting that fix, I guess. :/

I'm straight and female. I used to be into a lot of m/m but have since moved onto m/f. ...These days I'm particularly interested in the male party being a monstrous entity, though not always. The woman doesn't have to be Hollywood-beautiful but I still like it when she's attractive to me.

I tend to identify with both sides of the ship, sometimes more with the male side.

I'm not attracted enough to men to read m/m. I like f/f and m/f equally, but I really need to like both characters a lot to ship something and for whatever reason that seems rarer in m/f than f/f.

I'm bi and I ship m/m, f/f and m/f, but honestly it's the dynamic and how the characters interact that matter to me more than anything else. I just don't care if it's a man and woman, two dudes, or two women. Anthing's game!

yep. male with 0% interest in ladyparts, always ship m/m

I mean there's a few het ships I can nod sagely at and approve, but I would never want to see or read the actual day to day mechanics of those two people being in love, having sex, or otherwise doing whatever it is that couples do.

Yeah. Lesbian and like 98% into f/f. The other 2% are mostly comprised of childhood get ships.

The less dudes in my shipfics, the better.

Not really? I'm female and ace/aro, but I love both sex and romance in fiction. I ship m/m and m/f, but have yet to ship f/f.

I think even though I'm not attracted to anyone on a personal level, some vestigial part of me is still kinda het, and maybe that's why I'm not drawn to f/f. I don't really know though.

Nope.
I'm bisexual, but i have zero interest in having sex with anyone ever again.

I read M/M almost exclusively; some F/F, and a very few M/F, but I skip the intimate parts; i'd prefer a fade to black in that area.

I'm female and mostly gay or at least partly. And I ship mostly f/f these days, which lines up in a sense. I have shipped mostly m/f in the past, when I thought I was straight, and m/m generally does nothing for me. I have a few m/m ships but... very few, and they're not popular ships. I love female characters and fics with them.

Mostly. I'm not super interested in guy/guy and I'm a lesbian. But I will do girl/guy, but prefer girl/girl.

Re: Does your shipping preferences line up with your sexual orientation?

(Anonymous) 2019-01-04 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. I'm a straight woman and I ship everything as long as it has chemistry there. Two people who are into each other are hot, regardless of the genders involved.

Re: Does your shipping preferences line up with your sexual orientation?

(Anonymous) 2019-01-04 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
I've written m/f, f/f, m/m, xeno, poly, and asexual relationships, so I'm not sure which line to use here.

Re: Does your shipping preferences line up with your sexual orientation?

(Anonymous) 2019-01-04 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
I guess. IRL I don't really want or enjoy sex. I prefer fantasies which are more fulfilling and less messy. All my ships are het, majority of them being older man/younger woman.

Re: Does your shipping preferences line up with your sexual orientation?

(Anonymous) 2019-01-04 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
I'm a straight woman and while I'll ship whatever, when it comes to smut fic, I'm only interested in m/f and m/m, not f/f. I'm into dudes so I just need at least one dude involved, and it's preferable that female characters are having the kind of sex I like, which = sex with dudes. F/f/m can be fine, though, it depends.

Nope! I actually prefer m/m parings because I have none of their 'equipment';; So everything I read is all that more interesting;;

Yes, but probably not how my sexual orientation is commonly stereotyped as a bi person.

Yes, but I misfired. See my link. :(

Nope. I'm straight, and I prefer m/m. But sometimes I'm good with m/f as well.
