Personally, I loved Batman since the Batman Returns, which is STILL the most watched movie in my life. These movies reminded everyone, fan or no fan, why Batman is awesome. I think it depends, mostly...imo the OS is not a fandom!secret, it's a political secret. If the secret is something along the lines of "I'm a strict Republican but I ship Obama/Biden like it's my job" then it's F!S.

121. I kind of hear you there. It was pretty hard for me to watch the character of the Joker and not see an emotionally abusive ex of mine, if only because I'm 100% sure that he saw himself in the Joker. That said, I don't think people are stupid for finding fictional evil sexy, and I don't think it means that they haven't actually had someone who was a despicable, hurtful person in their lives. If anything, I think when I couldn't stand fictional villains because they reminded me of my ex, I was at the worst emotionally.

Fictional characters are fictional. As long as you can't watch them for fear of a real person, then that real person is dominating even your ability to perceive fiction. And that, at least in my experience, is sicker than letting yourself get carried away by fiction without understanding what it would really be like.


142. Personally, I think female!Revan still had more chemistry with Bastila than any other character. And I ship them harder with Revan as a female than with Revan as a man, anyways. I think it makes Bastila's redemption or Revan's second fall, either way you go, more relevant that way, if that makes any sense.

I like a lot of things. I just find that the AA fandom has a terrible problem with MODERATION.

I don't mean like mods on forums and such (though that could be argued too, however I haven't lurked at C-R in quite some time), I just mean that people either take everything waaaaaaay too seriously or take this NOTHING IS SACRED kind of approach and beat the fun out of everything by having too much fun.

I think a good example of my sort of thinking is that DR thread with all the Matt Engardes (another character I never really cared for but that's a different story).

A lot of people liked that thread, but to me it epitomizes a lot of the reason why I ended up getting burnt out on the series.

Disagree on the boring character part, hell yes! on the terrible villain part.

Edgeworth is all in how you look at him. On the surface, you see him as a detached, emo character. Then you realize he's supposed to be devilishly handsome.

Couple that with his 'detached' personality REALLY being social retardation, and Edgeworth becomes interesting. That's what I think of, anyway, when I'm playing him.

I don't think she is a boring character, I think she went through plenty of development and had one of the most complete personalities in the show. Still I don’t care, not even one tiny little bit, about what people think of her. I don’t even pay much attention to the American GL fandom for anything other than the occasional funny crack.

But I mean… why the fuck argue when Gainax loves her? She’ll keep getting awesome illustration books and Sushio-drawn posters and a very large role in the movie and she’s even the female heroine of that silly high-school manga! Hell, she is even the favorite character of Maasahiko Ootsuka(man responsible for the excellent FLCL episode 3, Whisper of the Heart and Gurren-Lagann's dramatic moments). This is a battle we Nia fans already won. Hate her all you want, that won't change anything.
