I kinda tried to read the Lord John books and it's been years, so it might have changed by now but I got so annoyed by him not being allowed to.move.fucking.on. from being in love with Jamie.

Everyone must love the main characters (or at least lust after them).

No-one may ever, E V E R get over them.

And yet, everyone gets judged for loving them at the same time. Her freaking husband gets judged for loving her and for god knows what because from what I saw, he's the one who was treated like crap and did nothing wrong at all.

Is this something that the books do? I never felt that the TV series judged Frank for still loving Claire. If anything, it was to his credit that he was so faithful to her. And when he did finally start seeing someone else, I think the narrative was fairly clear that it was Claire's anger and hurt that weren't fair.

I don't think Frank's life was fair, and I don't think Claire was fair to him (though she did try), but I always found the narrative very fair to him.

This is the worst thing about the book series. Everyone is in love/lust with Jamie and Claire to a ridiculous degree.

Yeah. I like the series more than Outlander, but it also suffers a little bit from the author's obsession with Jamie. He's Gabaldon's Edward Cullen, basically.

I haven't read the books, but oh man, I love John Gray and I want only good things for him. I ship John Gray/Happiness so much.

I was pleased he at least got a moment of supreme basassery at the end of S3. If his poor heart refuses to stop loving Jamie, at least he got to demonstrate his power and competence in front of Jamie in order to save his life. And going by Jamie's face in that scene, I think John's supreme basassery was very much recognized and admired.

+1. Except I've only read the books, lol.
