Anyone else watching it? I'm only 2 episodes in but - SPOILERS - I'm really liking it. The dance scene in the first episode was great.

I've only watched the first episode, but that one was good. Will probably watch more tomorrow.

I just finished episode six, but ngl, I keep going back to episode one for that scene. Just... Tiffany is so perfect for that montage. It's amazing.

Also, it's been forever since I read the comics, but I swear I did not come out of them shipping everyone like I am with the show. Wtf.

Right? I was trying to find it on YT to show my friend, but how has no one shared that gloriousness??

I didn't expect much, but the first episode surprised me by being pretty goo. I agree with you about the dance scene - best moment of episode one IMO. I also liked the fight scene with Istanbul (Not Constantinople). Really good use of music in this show.

The script doesn't strike me as being all that strong, but fortunately the acting seems to be strong enough to compensate. Ellen Page, Robert Sheehan (the junkie), and Aidan Gallagher (the kid) really elevate whatever they're given, IMO, and the others don't seem weak, either (I just don't feel like I've seen enough of them yet to properly gauge it).

Yeah, the plot is definitely very, like, what I would expect from that kind of indie-comics stuff. But the acting is really good and charming - Ellen Page is an absolute peach.

Robert is killing it. Like, hands down right now, Klaus is my favourite just because of Robert's performance.

As soon as I saw Robert, and realized that his character is basically Nathan from Misfits Version 2.0, I was like, oh this is gonna be good. He's so good at playing a little punk-ass loser asshole who you just want to punch repeatedly - but who you somehow can't hate because you kind of admire his audacious insuppressibility.

Though personally, I think Five is my favorite at the moment. Mainly because I'm really, really impressed by Aidan Gallagher's ability to play an adult in a kid's body. Usually with stuff like that I wince and brace for disappointment, because it's almost never believable that the character is actually an adult. But so far I find Gallagher's performance really convincing.

I'm going to watch tonight. It looks so fun! My Monstrous Bebe is all over it, she loves Gerard Way and has for years.

I’m two episodes away from being finished with it. I read the comics a while ago and mainly read for Vanya because I wasn’t really into the story, but I’m loving the show. Vanya’s great and I love Klaus.

I started reading the comics when it came out, but then I got poor so sadly I don't think I have them all. :/

Does your local library participate in an interlibrary loan program? I got lucky because my library had the first series and I got the second one through the interlibrary loan system. Haven’t checked to see if they’ve got the third one.

Yes. I had low expectations, and it is sort of a mashup of a bunch of things and not very original, but I think it's been doing okay and the performances have been selling me on it. It feels nostalgic for some reason. Like a remix of other things I liked over the years.

I totally get what you mean but I feel like I'm 2 or 3 years away from truly being able to appreciate it as 'retro'

(I still like it though just for the cast)

I saw a collection of trailers for anime expected to be released this year, including:
- So I'm a Spider, So What? [Kumo desu ga, Nani ka?] - I was excited for this until I saw the trailer. I don't like the art, and the CG elements are so ugly I was physically transported back to 1996. I might give it a chance when it's released, but it's not looking good.
- Fruits Basket - I am so excited for this I want to cry. Fruits Basket was my gateway to anime, and I've never felt so much nostalgia over a remake before. I'm looking forward to it!
- The new season of My Hero Academia - Though I'm a little disappointed with how one of the new villains looks versus how he looked in the manga, I'm still looking forward to it.
- The new season of Haikyuu - I have a friend who will beat me to death if I don't watch this with her. Hopefully it's as good as the last season was!
- Destruction Flag Otome [Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shite shimatta...] - Okay, this is definitely the most obscure one on the list, but I'm kinda excited. It's an isekai about a girl who is reborn into an otome as the villain, and spends years working to avoid any of the endings where she dies!

I haven’t thought about Fruits Basket in ages, but I’m definitely going to be checking it out because nostalgia. I’m super excited that Funimation’s bringing Laura Bailey back to voice Tohru.

I can't WAIT for Saranzamai. Even Ikuhara at his worst fills me with joy, so BRING IT, YOU BEAUTIFUL, CRAZY MAN.

Ever since the new Furuba anime was announced I've just been waiting anxiously for it. I need it, so badly! I can't wait!

Destruction Flag Otome sounds interesting! I've been playing a ton of otome recently, so I can just imagine the horrible fates she's trying to avoid lol.
