Shape of You. I HATE it. I don't really like Ed Sheeran, tbh, but I REEEEEEALLY don't like Shape of You. Something about it just makes my brain screech.

Pretty much any song by The Doors. I guess I've just never been high enough to appreciate 7+ minutes of droning, pseudo-philosophical bullshit.

I really, really don't like Nirvana, the music anyway as I still don't know who all the band members were. But it all sounded the exact same kind of depressing and I always hated it when a housemate of mine would put an album on when they were cooking because I legit could not tell any of their songs apart.

That and the music just funks me the fuck out so I do not like listening to it.

Pretty much anything by the 5th Dimension or the Mamas and Papas. I don't know why, I can't define one thing in particular. Maybe it's the 'watery' tunes/singing? It's hard to put into words why I cringe if I hear them.

Every song I've heard from Meghan Trainor, because I hate her lyrics but I find the music so catchy that I always end up humming them for days.

There's a certain kind of Southern California rock-pop sound that I just cannot stand. Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Offspring, Sublime, bands like that. They just have this whine.

I don't know if anyone besides me remembers this fucking awful thing from the early 80s called I've never been to me. I don't even remember the name of the woman who recorded it, mercifully I don't think she had another hit. The entire song is her harrassing some other woman she doesn't even know on the street, telling her she made some kind of terrible mistake by concentrating on a career instead of getting married and having a kid. There are some real vomit inducing lyrics in it but one line in particular stands out "I've seen some things that a woman ain't supposed to see" what the eternal FUCK are women not supposed to see??! Is there a secret man handshake?

Adele. I think I only like maybe one of her songs. She has a nice voice. Her songs and style of music just don't work for me at all.

I know we're supposed to worship at the altar of Ariana Grande, and I don't... get it. I don't exactly dislike her stuff? It's just... so generic. It's just the ultimate distillation of pop, which is fine, but there is absolutely nothing unique or new about any of it, and I feel like I have to be hearing something different from other people or something. I don't get it!

That “rains in Africa” song that seems to be playing everywhere and “Thunder” by Imagine Dragons. Both songs make me want to stab myself.

Maroon 5. God, their songs are shit. They have so many samey hits that go "wahh waaahhhh, we were so happy together until YOU ruined everything by breaking up with me" and I want every one of them to die.

Adele has much the same problem. Lots of songs about being unable to get over someone who broke up with me, boo hoo, I'll never be happy again and it's your fault! I can't believe so many people who ostensibly know better went wild for a song about stalking an ex and showing up at his house. Please stop.

I don't think I hate any music. There are songs that I don't care about, but I just tune out on them.

Same with artists, I don't hate any of them, but I DO remember the worst an artist has even made me feel:

I used to LOVE Emilie Autumns music. I didn't care about any of the drama, the ego stuff, the bullying accusations, all that. I just like her music.

Then I found out that she really really does not like men. Then I started hearing her music in a different light. Lyrics that hadn't bothered me before suddenly seemed a lot more obvious. Themes that kept appearing suddenly started to stand out.

REALLY bummed me out, because I had loved that music.

I never met a One Direction song that didn't sound like over-produced and aggressively triangulated tapioca pudding.

And two months late, "Oh Holy Night" is a ersatz "Ave Maria" beloved by middle-aged church dudes who think they'll get a Christmas miracle and sound good performing it.
