I'd guess the reason people think you're trying to be edgy isn't because nobody else ever wants to hurt people, it's this: "Hee hee you could pass by me on the street and ~never notice~ average old unassuming me, the ~potential sociopath~, which just how I LIKE it! *rubs hands together villainously, twirls mustache*" It really sounds like you'd enjoy being ~different.
