Re: Worst/weirdest takes you've seen

That Melkor was an okay guy and that if Eru had just allowed him to create something, everything would be great. Except, no. Even if you think his original motivations were justified, Melkor was a villain who did terrible things. I get takes on the actual devil that view him as good. But Melkor? Melkor tortured and murdered so many beings. And creating orcs out of elves through torture? There is nothing that could ever make Melkor a good guy. Whatever you think of his motivations, he's pure evil. So's Sauron for that matter. I like Sauron. But he's evil and horrible.

Oh, speaking of Sauron, the takes that say he only became what he did because he was abused by Melkor. Nope. First off, I don't buy their relationship as abusive because Sauron is full of himself and would never tolerate it. He was absolutely loyal, and being the selfish, arrogant guy he is, would not be that loyal to someone who abused him. I just don't see it. But even if Melkor did abuse him, that in no way justifies all the horrifying things Sauron did. Again, I love the guy. Such a great character. But he's evil. Very, very evil.
