Naruto is as bad as Harry Potter (or Fruits Basket, to stay in animanga territory) when it comes to pairing up everyone in neat little het relationships no matter if they make sense or not and I hate it so much.

This. SO much.

Did Gaara end up with anybody? I thought he was the only one who didn’t.

Yup, he wasn't with anyone. Tenten, Rock Lee, and Shino aren't paired up either at the end of Naruto.

DA. (possible spoilers) I would say Fruba is much worse than either because there were tons of m/m and f/f built up that just get dropped. Even Akito is revealed as female, thus making Shigure/Akito m/f as well.

As much as people like to claim HP and Naruto were ~soo gay~ they didn't have characters actually having stated crushes on other male characters like Fruba did. Hell, it's listed as a "good anime" by that Christian anime site because the characters "overcame their homosexuality and became good hets."

I mean, I'd understand if they IDed as bi, because all bi characters should be celebrating and the discourse about 'bi characters in m/f relationships don't count as LGBT anymore' is gross but it's more like it's considered a silly little thing that they get over by getting into proper m/f relationships.

(And considering that IS a Japanese view see: romantic two girl friendship, then it probably is.)

Hettily Ever After is, I have decided, the trope that I hate the most. So. Much. Hate. Why would - I can't even. (Don't even start with Fruits Basket, that entire travesty needs to be set on fire.)
