Taika Waititi.

I was neutral on him when Thor: Ragnarok came out. Since then, I've read a lot of the various comments he made about it and it's firmly cemented him on my shit list. Lots of bullshit like "I read a few pages of a Thor comic but it sucked lulz" and "I thought the other MCU movies were stupid", and of course we can't forget "I thought Asgard was stupid and I didn't like it anyway that's why I turned it into a joke when it got blown up haha." And about a dozen other fucking remarks in the same vein.

Like, idgaf if someone doesn't like the MCU. I'm sure many of the people involved in making them feel the same way. But this dude got paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for the privilege of working on that project, and then turned around and trash talked not just the original creators of the universe he was hired to work in but also the cast and crew of the movies he made a sequel to.

He's not wrong though

No, I mean the whole concept is pretty silly. It's a matter of decorum, though, and having respect for your own cast and crew, and the company that's paying you shitloads of money, and the hundreds of millions of fans who've made that possible.

On the one hand, I think his talking shit about the previous Thor movies and their creative teams was unprofessional; on the other hand, a great deal of the hatred I’ve seen aimed at him is specifically coming from Loki stans who simultaneously woobify him and think Waititi’s mockery of him wasn’t true to his virile/masterful/sexy/powerful/seductive/etc character in the earlier films. Basically, how dare he mock their dream dom?

A lot of similar reasons is why I've come to greatly dislike Rian Johnson.

Ehhh. They knew what they were asking for when they hired him, IMO. He makes a living out of being an irreverent dickhead, and it's a somewhat cultural brand of humour. You wouldn't get looked at twice for talking like that in NZ or Australia. Nothing is sacred. He really did give the impression that he made them pay out the nose to put him on the project because he didn't see much artistic value in working for them, which is a pretty standard attitude across the film industry when it comes to the Disney company.

Bonus opinion: I think a third Thor movie similar to the first two would have bombed.

I loved Thor: Ragnarok, but I never read any Thor comics and had thought the first two movies were blah.

I think shitting on the source material is unnecessarily rude, even if you still plan to go off in an entirely different direction with your adaptation, and I get why that's really offensive.

Louie Zong. He's the exact brand of twee I can't stand, which is a shame because he seems fine as a person but I hate everything about his creative output.

There are a lot of indie comic and game creators with personalities I don't personally jive with. It got so bad that I've mostly pulled out of the scene altogether because I can't relate to them or even their products.

Anything in particular that stands out to you? I doubt we're in the same circles, but I've had similar issues with indie creators in those fields and found it difficult to put into words.

I am not keen on most Disney movies.

Drake - I really don't know what it is but anything to do with him I just don't care. I used to wonder if there was something wrong with me because I wanted to like Drake's stuff, and then I began to hate him because Drake was everywhere doing everything, but now, I don't care. If he remains popular, and his music is all we listen to now, like, whatever. I'm just so used to the consistency of Drake there is no need to bother.

Maroon 5 - I still don't know how they came out with music that was not only bad, but extremely annoying and somehow their career is revived? And following that they've spent the past so many years just coming out with the most NOTHING music and then I have to listen to it everywhere because everything needs to be marketed by a Maroon 5 song.

I do not understand how there are people who like Maroon 5's current music. I like (even love) some of their older stuff, but like, who is enjoying their new music so much that it's inescapable? Who are these people???

Nayrt Right?! It's just so bad. So bad. And vapid and annoying in a way that makes other generic pop songs seem better by comparison.

Maroon 5's music always bored me!

I think Joss Whedon is a smug bastard who thinks he's much, much cleverer than he actually is.

J.K. Rowling is overrated.

I didn't care for a lot of Russell T Davies' Doctor Who run, especially his Rose/Doctor fixation. I liked Moffat even less because of his convoluted plots, and I dislike what he and Mark Gatiss have done with Sherlock Holmes.

Beyonce's music doesn't interest me in any way and I find her to be... very commercially oriented. I mean, props to her for becoming a megastar, but I'm indifferent to her output.

I don't find Beyonce's music interesting at all. it's just generic poppy dance stuff as far as I'm concerned.

I'm fine with Beyonce's music but kind of mystified as to how everyone stays abreast of it. I don't think I've heard a song I recognized as Beyonce on the radio since Single Ladies. Is everyone just following her online now? Or is my problem the fact that I mostly listen to classic rock and NPR? (It's not MY fault she didn't record a rock ballad in the 1970s...) It's just bewildering to me that she's the huge megastar whom everyone is always talking about ("Did you see the new Beyonce thing?") but who has almost zero presence in my life despite me making absolutely no attempt to avoid her.

G. R. R. Martin. I do not like ASoIaF and I do not like GoT. I wish people would stop recommending me his stuff just because I like fantasy. No I don't want to read about the gory depiction of murdered woman.

You have every right to decline a recommendation for any reason.

Uh, what? Are we talking about the same author? GRRM is equal opportunity death and gore, and it's not like it's the only thing he writes about. If it were, the books would have ended three novels ago.

I hated almost everything about both Okja and The Host, which has led me to believe I probably just really, really don't like Bong Joon-ho's writing and directing style. *shrugs*
