101 OP

Well, I simply don't relate to most girls to begin with. The company I enjoy the most and similar mindset is that of a guy, so in a sense I don't feel similar to most female characters because a bit I'm a girl that 'thinks' like a guy... but in most cases I don't want to relate with male characters either because I don't feel like a guy.

I don't know if you've seen/read Utena, but she was one of the few females I could relate to as a kid. Suikoden characters are just even better at emphasizing that.

well that's pretty understandable I guess! i suppose im just jaded by how little love girls get from girl fans.

i've seen a bit of utena, she was definitely cool! (that has no substance but i guess i dont have more to add haha)

Actually everyone hit the nail on the head essentially. I relate to both genders as much as I can, but I do feel that in certain aspects the females are 'enraptured' by romantic encounters. That is not to say that I don't believe in my share of love and relationships but I feel it is abundantly representative how women's emotions make them weaker instead of necessarily stronger. My best example can come from house where we see women that are in strong roles but they keep on being duped or shown as catty. Overall House turns them into sex-symbols for his own pleasure.

I also admire the women in these games because they play power roles. I've seen too many times where you'll see a woman in a role of power but somehow she becomes weakened and has the need to be saved, and they don't necessarily do this by being the strongest. After all, Lucretia isn't a powerful mage or fighter, in fact her one talent is having a sense of her surroundings and people. She is the tactician of the group. Chris is the leader of the knights but doesn't represent herself overtly masculine (which I've seen in powerful women where they try to cover up their feminine weaknesses by being nasty in a tsundere stereotype, etc) and she still has an elegance and is very diplomatic.

Also the two elderly women, one is a doctor, the other is also a retired tactician. I just like that these women have brains with common sense in them and aren't easily swayed by emotions. I mean the games have a broad casts with some stereotyped females, but I think they're also the first set of games where there is a substantial amount of well-rounded females.
