I'm a lesbian, actually, but hey, whatever you need to tell yourself.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-03 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, anon. I'd want to chat with you about what parts you don't agree with (civilly, of course), but I think this thread is just kind of done at this point.

Not everyone that plays with gender is trans, though. My boyfriend crossdresses sometimes, but is perfectly comfortable identifying as male. We've even talked about that and he's 100% sure of it.

When you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras. You're ascribing transness to an incredibly wide swathe of people who it simply doesn't apply to.

original anon: that was actually the point I was more going for, that the fakers were definitely doing it as an attention-seeking activity and to be able to lord their position as the Foremost Expert in Cis Gay Sex above all the silly dirty fangirls. I didn't make that clear, that's my fault.

WHY DOES THAT NOT SCARE YOU

I can't understand it at all, we are ambling closer and closer to an absolute (and I do mean absolute) takeover of the media by a conglomerate that routinely and openly engages in pure fucking propaganda (Captain Marvel was sponsored by the goddamned Air Force for god's sake) and all you can say is "let people enjoy things?" This is terrifying shit, seriously! This is not something people can just sleep on!

But they do, and they will, because vapid entertainment must come before all else. Please, please at least understand how scary this is.

That's why I said some but not all

WSM characters also get more love, but those two things are not mutually exclusive).

This is a really good point! I think a lot of people who disagree with OP are under the impression that the love a character gets cancels out the hate, but it doesn't. They're two separate things. A character can be loved more than they deserve and hated more than they deserve at the same time. And I think a lot of white male characters are both loved and hated more than they deserve.

Also, what you said about more popular characters feeling more hated because there are more people to potentially hate them is so true it hurts. Most times whenyou have a thousand people bashing something it's going to feel unfairly excessive, even if that's a thousand people out of fifty thousand. It's just a weird aspect of how criticism works imo.

Ugh, sorry, on my phone and fucked up the italics coding somehow.

That isn't the one I was looking for but it was a great read. Thanks!

I think Scott's supposed to be just as Latino as his actor. So, like half from Melissa McCall (nee Delgado), Scott's mother (or half from Cyndi Garcia-Posey, Tyler Posey's mother).

I am bisexual and (I think?) cis female and spent a year or so in 1999 pretending to be male online. I wasn't pretending to be *gay* though, I was pretending to be a straight or maybe bi ( mostly into women but occasionally sort of attracted to a man too) and it was definitely a way of exploring my gender identity (which I still don't really know for sure, though I am sure I'm not a trans man. Maybe gender fluid, maybe agender, but I'm fine with being considered cis female most of the time?)

/thread oc

Seriously, there is a time and a place for blissful inorance, but blindly consuming whatever the media feeds you because it's enjoyable (news flash: that's the point) is kind of adorable.

Damn, I remember those (pretty much) exact pair of heeled 'converse' for sale at Walmart back when I was younger;; Plaid interior and all... I do like her style though. It actually reminds me of Migami Tensei's old styling, I don't even get the 'bare naked children' vibe I typically do with most jrpgs these days...

I am so happy you made this secret, because I am feeling a hard same.
I hate to say I cringed when I first saw the show, but I did. Just as quickly I feel like I'm crushing on them and it's seriously weirding me out. So, yeah, you're not alone that's for sure...

DA

No, what's adorable is you guys panicking about movies while Google and Amazon literally take over every aspect of your lives.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-03 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
You do realize that no matter how loud they yell, the PC/pity police are not the majority of fans. They can whip whatever excuse convenient at the time as much as they want, but it doesn't change the fact that Luthor has some serious faults. Faults that none of the other siblings share as a whole. Even psychopathic Vanya can be excused by her reaching her breaking point, Klaus wanted to get clean, Five tried to fix the time rift, Ben is just doing his best, Allison literally would not use her power because she learned from her mistakes, Diego despite hating his father is the only one to continue the work he set out for them, and Luthor- Luthor didn't even try.
That is why he's the worst of the siblings. That is why, in the barest of context, people don't like him.

Usually when everyone rags on a character, there is a reason for it.
Diego made it clear he hated Vanya, but still gave her a vote (even if it was only because she sided with him) and more then that, he didn't want to leave her to suffer in a locked room. He bullied her, but wasn't about to torture her.

(btw, with a name like Luthor he isn't exactly white...)

Does anyone else remember the 'flying dog' on tumblr that people got really defensive about, or was that just some crazy dream I wish I didn't have?

Do you honestly think anyone freaking out about a Disney takeover is oblivious to Google and Amazon?

Come on.

Re: Do you believe in the supernatural?

(Anonymous) 2019-05-03 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
Bah, I guess? Mostly when I was younger and home alone, I'd try to alleviate my fear by 'talking' to possible ghosts. I tried to humanize them, and myself to them, so I wouldn't be so scared...

Otherwise! I like to believe on wishing upon stars and the like, because it's something I've always done and it make me feel better about what I can't control in life!

In other news! I am completely convinced, and always have been, that Jesus (and the like) are completely fictional. In the same way people don't believe in god, I find it strange when people can come to terms with god but not that Jesus wasn't also real. (I once said that the bible was just a book, and it's just as likely that Harry Potter could be found 2000 years from now and be our new messiah) But I'm guessing this isn't what you asked for.
