Rewatching (or Rereading) Media

What's something you can always watch or read over again, even if there's no 'surprises' anymore?

What's something that you've watched or read once that you can't see yourself repeating, and why?

The Lion King? I've probably see it a hundred times in my life. Great British Bake-off and Bob's Burgers are like my comfort shows.

Lots of movies I will only watch once. I really just don't watch most movies over and over. Especially depressing ones. I don't rewatch most TV shows. Like, I will never rewatch Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Wire, etc no matter how much I liked them.

All my favorites. LOTR (both watch and read). Star Wars (all of them plus a lot of the books). Most of the MCU. Lion King. Moana. How to Train Your Dragon movies. Early Game of Thrones seasons. Legend of the Seeker. Most Star Trek shows and movies. Early Project Runway seasons. Early Top Chef seasons.

As for can't repeat, only seen Shindler's List once. excellent movie, but couldn't watch again.

Read: Jane Austen, Tolkien

Watch: Jane Austen, GoT, Shetland, Walking with Dinosaurs, many of the Shakespeare films done in the last 30 years.

There are very few actual surprises any more, but there's always more to discover.

All my favorite books, I read them all at least once a year: Brideshead Revisited, a lot of Pratchett, Cherryh, Lee. The Laura Ingalls books, A Little Princess, etc.

Movies - Beaches, Auntie Mame, Steel Magnolias, Fifth Element, Alien, Blade Runner, Contagion, Pandorum, Clueless, Moonstruck....

I need never see Pet Semetery again, that really creeped me out. I feel like stuff i don't want to watch/read again is 99.9 % stuff i really didn't like, so naturally I don't care about revisiting it.

Disney's Tarzan and certain episodes of Friends.

Over and Over:

Lord of the Rings (books and movies, but not within a few months of each other).

Leverage.

Seasons 1 and 2 of Supernatural (with the exception of "Bugs.")

Any Doctor Who episodes with the Third Doctor and Jo, the Seventh Doctor and Ace, or the Ninth Doctor and Rose.

Diane Duane's Young Wizards books.

Lilo & Stitch

Once was enough:

Star Trek: the Wrath of Khan. (I saw it at seven, was massively traumatized, and never ever could make myself watch it again.)

Season 12 of Supernatural. Sam and Dean were basically secondary characters to angel and demon storylines, and the writers wrote them like coworkers instead of brothers.

Pretty much every "classic" dog story, because the dogs always end up dying tragically, and what kind of teacher assigns these stories to kids?

The Romeo x Juliet anime. Kaoru Mori manga. My favourite things, in general, I guess - I'd rather re-read or re-watch something I know I love than dive into something completely new, and yeah, this is kind of a problem at times.

I tend not to re-watch or re-read things. I'm a 'once and done' person and that includes most movies, games and books.
