Ahoy!

(Anonymous) 2019-05-30 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
So, weather's lousy and I keep having to be in formal wear for a work thing. Which is MOSTLY indoors, but does involve some dashing between buildings. This makes me all grumpy because it's hard to pick something nice enough for the events but simultaneously not SO nice I'll be upset with myself if it gets a bit of mud splashed on it. :/ What stupid problems are the rest of you dealing with?

My stupid health. It can't decide if it wants to have a bacterial infection or not.

Gonna get 5 more inches of rain this weekend.

I suck at crochet. :( I am trying but it is discouraging.

Any particular reason you decided to pick up crochet?

Just something to do when I listen to podcasts or watch Overwatch League. Plus, my sister gifted me a set of hooks. I've made a couple things so far and swatches but it doesn't seem to be getting any easier.

Keep at it! I know they're different, but I was completely awful at knitting when I started and angrily unraveled so many projects when I screwed them halfway through. Youtube tutorials were the only thing that helped me, if you can find one that goes through it slowly it really helps to have that visual to copy. Stay determined! Anything in particular you're trying to make?

I am certainly trying. I mostly want to learn to make those cute little crochet animals.

My brain, my emotions, my self-image, etc. Also, there's a bunch of uncertainty with jib stuff.

May your sails become less uncertain.

Ha! Job stuff, it was supposed to be, but I'm not too mad at autocorrect, that's a good typo.

I've been cut off my disability support pension, and the phone number I have to call is returning a 'not in service' automated message, even though I've called this exact number multiple times in the past!

Also I'm doing an online course - very official, formal accreditation, that sort of thing - and they care so little about editing that one of the questions declared that 1.5% of $14.90 is $2.23! I failed literally every single year of high school maths, and even I can tell that's wrong!

I'm sorry about the DSP. I'm trying to get in touch with the NDIS and and tracking phone calls. Twenty so far. They're very busy, apparently.

But having your DSP cut off is really worrying. I hope you get it sorted soon.

OMG the percentage. Have you told them how wrong they are?!

Re: Ahoy!

(Anonymous) 2019-05-31 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
I called my go-betweens and they're sorting it out.

Not yet! I'm thinking of writing them an email on all the shit editing and violations of the Accessibility Act that I've found while doing their course [they keep putting text in images so it's inaccessible to a screenreader, for literally NO REASON].

Yikes. Anything to do with the DSP (assuming you're Australian?) is painfully slow and frustrating.

Have you called through to the main line? If you're trying to reach a specific person or office they tend to disappear pretty often. Very high employee turnover and constant internal restructuring are usually to blame.

AYRT - their whole landline was down, but fortunately I had the mobile number of one of the staff, so I could get the message through to her.

I did a bunch of yardwork yesterday and this morning that mostly involved beating the shit out of weeds with a hula hoe and raking up the resultant carnage, but now my hands really hurt. It reminds me of the time I got sick of trying to dig through gravel laden dirt and broke out a pickaxe instead. And I have so much weeding and debris clearing left to do, and then I gotta plant stuff where I cleared the weeds and keep it weed free, watered, and alive.

Also I have to put my cat’s topical flea meds on her. She hates them* and the instant I part the fur on the back of her neck, before I’ve even opened the little tube of toxic goop, she runs and hides.

*possibly with good reason since it’s one of the ones that can cause seizures, although luckily she’s been fine so far. I would switch to a different one, but this one lasts three months at a time so she spends less time overall flipping out.

Our cat makes a beeline for the door as soon as he sees the flea stuff, too. He has a really bad skin reaction to flea bites as well so we're like "no you don't understand YOU NEED THIS" but he always disappears for the rest of the day in protest.

AYRT—yeah mine’s allergic too, and has long hair, so she chews herself, ingests a ton of fur, and horks it up along with her dinner.

Same here (minus the long hair), and for some reason he always freaks out and sprints across the room in the process, which makes cleanup extra fun. :< If only they could understand we're just trying to help.

Serious sinus headache today. My face hurts. My eyes and teeth hurt. I had a lot of work to get done, and the headache has been really distracting.

Also, the cat just had an adventure in the garage. She managed to sneak out when my dad was coming in and then hid under the car. Took a good long while to lure her back in.

Ack! That's the worst fucking feeling if it's something you're working to avoid.
