Burning slavers and rapists is the same as burning innocent citizens. OK.png

You sound like someone I don't want to ever know, OP.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-16 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
She was also killing innocent civilians, it's just that before sacking King's Landing she was Very Sorry after the fact.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-16 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
What. innocent. civilians.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-16 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Who? And when?

(Anonymous) 2019-06-16 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
i guess this is in relation to her dragons eating kids?

(Anonymous) 2019-06-16 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
If it is, then that's just stupid. If my dog runs off and mauls someone, I may be legally culpable, but it doesn't say a damn thing about my morals!

(Anonymous) 2019-06-17 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Where and when did OP say that?

And just to be clear, are you arguing that you feel burning people (or crucifying) them alive is morally justifiable if the victim committed bad deeds?

(Anonymous) 2019-06-17 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
nayrt

Just as morally justified as hanging or beheading. Is some killing ok in your book but not others? Or just when characters you like do it?

(Anonymous) 2019-06-17 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
NAYRT

It's reasonable and common to believe that killing people in a way that causes unnecessary and excessive pain is morally worse than killing people in a way that's quick and painless, yes.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-17 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
You live max five minutes if you burn, dude. You pass out within a minute due to the heat.

They did not suffer for long.

(Hi, I write, so I make sure to fact check these things, being subjected to fire is not long and tormenting like media wants you to believe.)

(Anonymous) 2019-06-17 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
But is it more or less painful than a (properly carried out) beheading or hanging? That's the relevant question here. I mean, the general question of what kinds of punishment are excessively cruel is beyond the scope of this thread, obviously, but the idea that death by burning is more cruel than death by hanging seems like a fairly intuitive one

(Anonymous) 2019-06-17 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
you fact-checked dragon-fire???

(Anonymous) 2019-06-17 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
it's fire, man, what difference is there gonna be? it's hotter than normal fire? ohhh nooo.... they will die even faster...

(Anonymous) 2019-06-17 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
What if dragon fire is supernaturally painful

(Anonymous) 2019-06-17 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean, you still run into the whole "your brain shuts down after a certain amount of pain" thing

(Anonymous) 2019-06-17 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
So wait, your defense of burning people alive is that it's humane because it's literally more pain than the human brain can deal with?

(Anonymous) 2019-06-17 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
It's okay that Arya fucking fed someone their own kids, but when Dany does a very common medieval execution method (burning) that doesn't even cause as much suffering as media would have you believe. Like unless things were well-ventilated and they weren't breathing in any goddamn smoke and it wasn't full-body, they'd be dead within five minutes. Which is actually, in that way, nicer than a botched hanging where the neck doesn't snap.

DRACARYS 🔥🔥🔥

(Anonymous) 2019-06-17 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
And there we have it. The skewed moral universe of the Dany stan. You sound like someone I would view as very dangerous.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-17 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
It's fiction.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-17 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oh please. People like you just hate Daenerys and don't care how the writers handled her or the story. You were willing to see a ruined season 8, just as long as Dany's story ended badly so that you could jack off to it. It has nothing to do with morals. You sound like someone I would view as very dangerous, seeing as how you are willing to sacrifice the safety and well-being of the people of King's Landing for your gratification.

I dare you to agree with nonny below about it just being fiction now. Go on.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-17 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Same. It's almost always Sansa stans who hate Dany. I knew one who wouldn't hear how backstabbing Sansa had Ever done Anything wrong but got uppity about Dany burning traitors and khals who'd basically threatened to gang-rape her death.
