What are you doing this Fourth of July?

My company voted to work today and take tomorrow off. So I was at work from 6:45 to 12:45. Not much to do so I spent the whole time watching the new season of Stranger Things. Done now. I am not doing much tonight. Might drink but mostly going to be cranky because of all the fireworks going off.

I am cleaning my apartment. I'm about halfway done and I really need to finish by 7:00 pm so I hope I can push through the rest.

Might start watching Stranger Things because last time I waited to watch it I regretted it but I have to make cleaning the priority.

I'm trying to put off Stranger Things but I just know I'll get spoiled for stuff...

That's what happened to me last season. I actually don't mind spoilers as much as most people do but it was frustrating to be surrounded by in-jokes I couldn't understand.

But hey, at least my apartment is clean.

Hiding indoors. It's hot and muggy and gross, and fireworks are fucking loud and annoying as fuck.

Plus, the pussy-grabber in chief makes me sick, and my neighbor recently started to fly a confederate flag. Couple this with the news and never have I ever felt *less* like celebrating this day.

IKR, it's nuts that so many people are trying to get into this sad ass country.

It really is. But then - a huge majority are from South and Central America - the countries we spent the last 100 years or so fucking over hardcore in all sorts of gross, secret ways.

It's nuts that we made those countries *worse* than the mess we are right now, or at least - even our horror-show of a country currently looks better, which is just all kinds of depressing.

Very depressing that you are stuck in this shithole. I hope someday you will be able to relocate to a country that isn't so horrific, both in itself and to the rest of the world.

I made tabouli and am now making hummus and falafel (it was either this or homemade nachos because a) vegetarian and b) not in the mood for stereotypical July 4th food) and gonna put on a movie to drown out the drunk fuckers who keep butchering patriotic songs.

I’ll celebrate again —oh jfc someone just said yeehaw and I live in coastal California —if Xenophobe Tinyhands McPustule becomes the first case of spontaneous human combustion to be caught on camera and aired live on tv.

I may walk up the nearest big hill to watch fireworks tonight, but last year a big party nearby was blasting “Proud to be an American” or whatever the fuck that song was, so maybe not. Still hunting for a local-ish immigrant bond fund that’s actually listed on Charity Navigator and has decent ratings so I can donate.

Am in Washington DC itself and decided to lock myself in the apartment all day. Fuck this muggy weather and fuck Donald Trump.

I had to go into work at 6AM but got to leave at 2:30 (I work at Goodwill and it's our annual 4th of July sale today, we were busy as fuck). Then my husband made bbq chicken and now I'm sitting back with a glass of Beringer white zinfandel and watching the Star Wars marathon on TNT. So not a bad 4th of July at all!

I've had my hamburger cookout, watched 2 episodes of Stranger Things, and gotten drunk af, and now I feel ready to pass out right as the fireworks start, which isn't the best timing, but alas.

I'm not American, but I have a friend who lived in the US for a few years and every couple of years he has a sort of - America-themed? party, sometime around the 4th (because obvs that's not a holiday here, so he just takes the closest weekend). So it's gonna be on Saturday, and I'm making brownies and choc-chip cookies and apple pie and smores with homemade PB&J marshmallows.
I was thinking of making chilli but thought that might be excessive.

Staying in. We were going to go to a local festival to bum around and watch the fireworks, but we're both too tired for all that shit.

Instead I bought a cheap grill at walmart earlier today and cooked up some hotdogs in the parking lot of our motel (classy af), and we had a very traditional patriotic meal of hotdogs, potato salad, and chips+dip.

Hiding inside. Hate fireworks and this weather.

Watching ST series 3, apparently.

Because it's a sad anniversary for me (good thing I never cared much about patriotism even before the thing) I cheered myself up by driving a little way out of town for mochi ice cream. Now I have to finish a cleaning/organizing chore. *shrug*

Nothing, which was nice. Watched Star Wars (Rogue One and OT). Seemed like an okay fit for July 4. Not I've got ear plugs in to drown out the fireworks since it appears the migraine that went away for 2 days has somehow come back.

I slept late, then watched Stranger Things 3.

I did nothing except take the day off, re-watch some of Good Omens, watch that evening's Elementary, and go nuclear on the ants invading my kitchen.
