5. It's already like that, imho. Zexion wasn't a trendy emo boy until KH2 hit and the Organization was suddenly big, for example. I never saw uber-feminine!Marluxia until after KH2.

(icon directed at those people, naturally)

And it's not a matter of being a fan of them longer - it's a matter of having played COM and getting their characterizations RIGHT.

I didn't start hitting up the Japanese fanart sites until after KH2, but I've seen it too - the big AkuMaru thing? I agree. Crap, crap, crap. Either way, I was more referring to the side of fandom we end up seeing more - the North American side - but I won't disagree with you.

Then again, the vast majority of doujinshi are Japanese-made, and to this day I have found few that are entirely IC :P Besides, in all honesty, you see very little Japanese fanart that's IC, for KH, really.

I don't like the fandom's mentality that the Japanese's OOC is okay, though. It's kind of weird.

Really? I saw a LOT of girly!Mar-- not even just in Japanese sites, either, Case.

I also saw a lot of emo!Zex, for um, what I saw of Zex-- which wasn't much.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did. But concerning the fanart, it's a lot easier to get more views for humor than it is to get for like UBERSERIOUS pics, right? I mean, at least fanartists can get away with it by playing on the character's predominant traits, it's when they go LOL THAT'S WHAT THE CHARACTER -IS- LIKE when you worry.

Fanfiction writers now.. I want to say they have no excuse for butchering characterisation, but I feel like I'd be contradicting myself somewhere. >>"

They probably did. I think the same happened with Yazoo.
