What's the most stalker-ish thing you've done?

Sent a Facebook friend request to all of the admins in a giant group I'm active in. I only did it as cover for friend requesting the hot one.

It's not stalking if my ex's facebook is public, right?

Sometimes I take a scroll down memory lane. He's completely and hilariously horrible. He hates women and anyone who isn't proud of their white heritage. He loves Trump. We're not even American.

I used to feel bad because he cried when I broke up with him and initially I just wanted to know if he was okay. Now I lurk for funsies.

Eek. You sound better off without him.

I dodged that bullet like Neo. He's from one of those religious families where they marry young and have as many children as possible. Yikes.

hung out and watched Hugh Laurie getting filmed, he didn't even know I was there. That's not very stalkery though, especially since I left when the security guy asked me to without making a fuss.

After a show, my friend wanted to stage door to get an autograph from one of the actors. One of the messageboards (this was a decade+ ago) I used to hang out on had a thread about meeting actors at the stage door, and someone had mentioned this dude rode a motorcycle. My friend had given up waiting when I saw a guy on a motorcycle and said “go ask him.” It was him, and my friend got an autograph. And then dude goes “how on earth did you know it was me?” presumably because motorcycle helmet/jacket etc made pretty good camouflage. So my friend points to me where I’ve been lurking. I was super embarrassed because I felt like a crazy stalker and I wasn’t even the one autograph hunting.

A few years ago, I was at a Christmas lighting festival and, when I opened Instagram to upload a picture, I noticed that an artist I liked had posted a picture of one of the little statues at the festival. I spent the rest of my time there trying to find him. I failed and that was probably for the best since he was there with his family and all.

Tracked down the street address of a celebrity crush. It wasn't exactly a secret as he wasn't/isn't very discreet and his house had been profiled in various publications because it's quite unique. Also found out their office address.

Mom and I have been keeping track of how much my sister lies to us through my dead Dad's Facebook account that we still get notifications for.

Lesson for all y'all!

...drove 8 hours to a film site. Granted, I had a second purpose for being in the area so the trip wasn't wasted, but... still.

Nothing actually happened, so I went with my other plans.

I probably won't ever do that again though. In hindsight, it was a pretty dumb idea. I will say it's the furthest I ever drove from home.

Many years ago at the height of the AIDS crisis I wrote a letter to a priest who was working with AIDS patients. There was no internet then but I had his name and the town he lived in and I looked him up in a phone book I found in my college library (or something like that.)

It wasn't really "stalkery" and he seemed happy to get my letter, but it's the only time I tried to get someone's address like that.

Well, a little off topic, but in line with some of the responses in 7-
I am a very private person, have been for a very long time. But a weird/stalkerish thing that has happened to me was when I was walking to a friends house with a number of people that happened to bypass my own home. One of the girls I barely knew pointed out my house and made a point to say 'That's where you live isn't it?'.
Like my friend living a street and a half away didn't even know where I lived exactly, but this chick picked my house out like it was nothing. They weren't even my regular group of friends. She went to the same grade school as me, maybe, but hell if that meant she should have known where I lived!
This was a number of years ago now, but it still bothers me, because I stopped inviting friends to my house/letting people know where I lived in pretty much grade four, and for all the ways she could have legitimately found out, it creeps me out to this day that she knew this.

For me?? I probably hold the gold standard for 'failing at searching for things', so even if I wanted to, I doubt I'd even have the ability to find salt in the ocean... The most stalkerish thing I've probably done is try to trace a very specific doujinshi after losing it a number of years ago. I downloaded one hell of a lot of anthologies, and finally picked out the artist, tried to translate the name, tried to find the websites listed in a (super old) badly scanned page. Just for some reference of their other doujins, or what they turned to next... Basically, I suck at searching for things, and still haven't found shit...
