Movie trailers

(Anonymous) 2019-08-29 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Does anyone know why trailers come out on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Re: Movie trailers

(Anonymous) 2019-08-30 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but it used to be that new home videos were generally released on Tuesdays. They almost always included trailers for upcoming movies or videos.

Re: Movie trailers

(Anonymous) 2019-08-30 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I hadn't realized they did, but it's interesting to think about, since I think a lot of people these days see trailers online first and it doesn't matter what day it is if you're going to watch it online. We used to see them first attached to movies (or as a TV commercial if we didn't see the right movies), but new movies generally come out on Fridays (I think the Wednesday or Thursday openings is a more recent thing) and that doesn't match up with a Tuesday or Wednesday trailer premiere. Maybe early/mid-week was when studios had to have a trailer ready in order to attach it to a new movie by Friday and that just never changed even when putting them online became a thing?

I have an older PC but want to upgrade it

Crocheters

How did you learn how to read patterns? I can't seem to get them.

Re: Crocheters

(Anonymous) 2019-08-30 09:05 am (UTC)(link)
Try to draw your own version of a pattern and see how you would do it. Once you understand the thought process behind making a pattern, it'll probably be a lot easier to read them. It worked for me when I started to read written knitting patterns: I tried to "translate" it into something I could read a little easier, and then quickly found that there was no easier way to write it down, it already was as precise and concise as it could be.

I'm really sorry. That sucks. Take care of yourself, anon. I hope you have people who do care about you because you deserve it.

Unfortunately, I don't. (This is the same anon.) And I wasn't fully to blame for the reasons I was dropped like a hot potato.

TMIish

[personal profile] philstar22 2019-08-30 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
How do you deal with PMS, hormones, and vagina pain? I'm freezing (I always get cold before and during period), I hurt, I'm in a bad mood and miserable. I don't even have a uterus left. All I have is one ovary. How is it that I still have this many hormone issues?

I took a hot bath. I drank alcohol, which helped relax me a bit. I've got a heating pad on my vagina. But it still hurts a lot. I'm currently not taking ibuprofen since there is a chance I could be allergic.

So I'm looking for suggestions. What do other women do?

Warm to hot drinks.

Stretches and positions that open up the hips and lower back or relax the pelvic floor, focusing on relaxing into the stretch rather than pushing it. Child pose, frog pose, and corpse pose come to mind. Butterfly stretch lying on the back with supports underneath the legs. Sometimes lying on an incline made from pillows or blankets, as well.

Though (also possible tmi), I’ve had to go to pelvic floor therapy in the past and still do home care - and gentle dilator use has done a lot for pain alleviation for me.

I started doing pelvic floor therapy, but sadly I can't afford the co-pays right now. I need a full time job badly. I have the stuff the therapist had me buy, but right now I'm too sore down there to try anything. I'm at a can't even touch myself on the outside level of pain.

Ayrt - I’m sorry - that’s frustrating.

If you’ve done slow “belly breaths” in PT and it’s not too painful, lying on the back or in a modified above position and doing those may be something to try?

Sometimes if I can’t lie down (at work or commuting) or just can’t deal with doing anything else, sitting on a chair on a cushion or folded towel and just feeling the “sit bones” relaxing to a more open position has also helped.

how do you have periods w/o a uterus? mine stopped dead when I had my hysterectomy

Re: TMIish

[personal profile] philstar22 2019-08-30 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
No period in terms of blood. But I still cycle in terms of estrogen and stuff because I still have one ovary and still have all the endometrial tissue that is covering my bladder (which is the endometriosis which is why I had the hysterectomy in the first place). So I only cramp a little, but I still PMS and still get vagina pain.

have you talked to your doctor about the birth control pill? if you're able to take it, i've heard the pill can help women with menopause so maybe it can help with other hormone issues.
