Can't agree at all. FFN's tagging system is a mess. Last I checked it only allows 2 main characters to be the focal point and people tag things so randomly that it's hard to tell what's shipping and what's general. Never mind that the fics are all crammed on top of one another in the index and it doesn't allow the option to click on or highlight anything once you're reading the fic (sometimes I get distracted so I highlight the portion I last read with my mouse so I know where to come back to). I'll always feel a nostalgic soft spot for FFN, but it just isn't for me anymore.
osidiano: Misawa Daichi from YGO!GX wincing and putting a hand to his head, with the text "My fandom BROKE MY BRAIN" (oof)

Only allowing two characters to be tagged is kind of nice sometimes though; if you have a character who is popularly written as the "Good Bro" then their AO3 character tag is filled with fics where they just happen to be in the roommate/supportive friend role, instead of being the central or POV character. People tag EVERYTHING on AO3, since there are no limits, and that can make it equally difficult to tell what's main and what is a one-line reference to a past pairing.

(I am clearly a bitter Sam/Riley shipper)

All of this. Plus the way you can't (or couldn't last time I bothered to post there) just edit a fic. You have to upload a text document and then edit that. And if it's after 30 days you can't edit a chapter you have to reupload the text document.

People whine about AO3 as ~confusing. It's simple. Tick a warning box, choose a fandom, add a title and the text. The rest is optional but it makes it much easier for readers to find and decide to read you fic with some good tags of the sort ffn doesn't allow.
