I haven't been to FFN in years, but I seems that when we used to have these FFN vs AO3 discussions, there was more of an even split between who liked what. Now this thread is overwhelmingly in favor of AO3. I don't know if that's AO3 getting better, FFN getting worse, people getting more used to AO3 because that's where their fandoms started or migrated, or there's now a higher percentage if folks in fandom who never used anything but AO3.

Probably all of that, plus there was a point in time when FFN was so full of malware that even a lot of the diehards broke up with them.

For me personally it's that AO3 allows us to download the fics we like... or does FFN have that feature too now? I haven't been there in years, but I still remember the tedious work of copying fics into word documents. x__x

I think there is a Calibre extension or setting for that iirc so at least that's better than copying it into docs.
