I spend a lot of time on work reading analysis about Brexit.

It's not related to what I do, and I'm not British.

It is fascinating. I try to put a limit on it, bc it's a bottomless pit you can fall into if you're not careful and it's basically totally unproductive because there's nothing you can do about it. But it's so interesting sometimes.

They passed an amendment by accident today! How can you not find that interesting?

I KNOW right? Regardless of my personal opinions on the topic, it's just so fascinating to watch this entire debate between (dysfunctional) direct and (hardly ideal) representative democracy, and a head of government who ended up in a seat of power not because of the democratic functions of the state, but the organisational processes of his party. With the events of the last week, there's also the places you're taken when you don't have a written constitution to uphold the rule of law, and when one part suddenly start breaking the unwritten rules.

It's political theory being illustrated right before our eyes.

I've been keeping tabs on it, too. Partly because it's been a common topic on John Oliver's show, and partly because I talk with people onlie who live there and they've been discussing the clusterfuck that is this whole situation.

It's fascinating (in a "see how politics works"/"yet another example of shitty people in control of everything" sort of way) and horrible all at the same time and I really feel for everyone being impacted by this mess.

I feel guilty for not understanding what's going on better, but I'm not British, either, don't live there or have personal or business ties, and there's nothing I can do anyway...

I'm British and I feel as if I'm trapped on a ship crewed by a handful of madmen who are holing the boat, while accusing the rest of the crew and the passengers of disloyalty for trying to stop them. Because the boat will float even better obviously.

We're all going to drown.
