cosplayer, so...sew, paint, bead, sculpt, mold plastic, woodworking, a little knitting, plush/dollwork, quilting, general crafts. basically if I need it for a costume I figure out which of my skills would work best to make it.

I'm a "little of everything" type of crafter, too.

...with all the accompanying storage issues.

I’m a cosplayer, too, but unfortunately my skillset is a lot smaller than yours and I’m not amazing at the stuff I know how to do, which is mediocre sewing, okay dyeing, and basic beading.

I’m decent at recycling thrift store stuff into costumes, though; I have a really complicated dress where 90% of the base fabric was thrift store finds, some of which I stripped and re-dyed or hand-painted, and half the trim was thrifted or bought on clearance or from the dollar store.

lmao de-anoning because...eh. hi! don't worry, I've been at this 20 years so it takes time to cultivate Too Many Skills and also Not Enough Room as per above anon.

but don't sell yourself short! thrifting and then modifying is a skill and it sounds like you've totally made it something far more than most people who can't even be arsed to replace a button. I have learned over time that I suck at design and original ideas, so I always bow to those who can bring their own ideas to life, and even more to people who can visually deconstruct something they've found cheap and rebuild it into what they want it to be. I've been scratch-building so long that my modding muscles are weak and atrophied.
