It's so aggravating. Hollywood insists on cramming a romance into so many films, even big action flicks, but then there's no time to do a good job and it's not the point of the film. Frankly, sometimes they barely bother to find two actors with decent chemistry to help make up for lack of plot and character development but... here's your crap romance, audiences!

I think Pink made mistakes and treated others the way she was treated (by the Diamonds) but I think that's a big reason for why she wanted to become Steven. Steven is able to grow and become a better person at a lot faster rate than maybe a gem could. (Diamonds especially seem resistant to change.) So I think Steven's whole life has been a little like Pink's redemption arc.
