From what people have already explained to you, I think you will know what I mean when I say that the reason people hate her is that she is about as far from normal as possible. I tend to feel terribly insulted that McCain chose her as a running made -- presumably because he thought that would get him the female vote, as she was pretty much the worst choice he could have made unless he really thought the fact that she has boobs would mean that most women wouldn't care at all about her stance on any of the issues. Unfortunately, it's backfiring because the more that comes out about her, the more it's revealed she's pretty much a sorry excuse for a woman (not only the rape kit thing, but one thing she doesn't like to tell people is that when she says she doesn't want any abortion to be legal, ever... she is also part of a group of Republicans who are trying to get some contraceptives named as "abortion"), not a very good person, and DEFINITELY not the kind of person who should be put near a position of such power. I wouldn't want her as the principal of my school, much less the VP and potential President of my country.

Mostly, though, I think people are pissed at you simply because most people are assuming you're of the age to vote, and the idea that someone is going to be voting in a couple of weeks and has no idea about issues that are so important is breath takingly horrible. Fate of the nation, etc. It might not be pretty, but the election really is something that needs to be paid attention to -- the trick is to listen to all the mudslinging, then actually look further into it and find out what's true and what's just a bunch of made-up vitriol.
