I'm Australian and I would like to take the opportunity to thank the people who made this year's cocktail of protection for doing a bang up job. Didn't even get the sniffles. Worth the arm hurting like fuck for a few days.

I'm so unenthused for the new Pokémon games that it's kinda giving me an identity crisis. I've been a hardcore fan since the first generation and it's more or less been a constant in my life.

Because of those Cashmere commercials, toilet paper is the first thing i think of when I see a white dress on tv. Really sucks when I'm watching shows that involve weddings, or anything fancy.

I'm baffled by FFXV's (western) fandom all deciding that Prompto is some kind of balls-to-the-wall buff ultra-top who kicks ass, takes names, and doesn't look at explosions. Like... I get it, you're trying to avoid the "woobie" effect, but good god, there's such a thing as going too far in the opposite direction. He's got massive weaknesses. He literally tells Noctis that his confidence is a complete and total lie. It's okay for a guy to have a weak side-- even a big weak side.

Also he's a twink. For god's sake he's as big around as my thigh. That's okay too.

I’ve spent the last 10+ years in a couple of really huge, really long-lived fandoms, almost exclusively. A few months ago I got heavily into a new, medium-sized fandom. People in my new fandom are constantly raving about how many amazing, talented creators the fandom has. And I just keep privately thinking…not really?

The fandom definitely does have some excellent fics, which I will praise to the heavens, but it also has a LOT of very bland, very short one-shots with almost no substance to them. And it has a lot of just plain bad writing (SPAG is bad, phrasing is incredibly awkward, zero narrative flow, etc).

I am not much of a writer, so I am 100% in a glass house here, but I find it so weird that people in this fandom seem to genuinely feel it is chock-full of unparalleled creative output. From where I'm standing it has a significant dearth of quality creative output.

Rogue One is my favorite Star Wars movie. Everything about this movie to me is perfect. I like all the other ones too, to some degree or other. But Rogue One is my favorite movie of all time.
