I do actually prefer them as best friends. Much like I also prefer Eleanor as some sort of human surrogate daughter to Michael's newly human dad. I can't ship Michael/Eleanor at all (naturally people will ship anything) whereas canon means I can see why Eleanor/Chidi works, it just doesn't work for me.

I absolutely agree! I find making them romantically involved somehow cheapens their relationship. I actually prefer Chidi's relationship with Simone when romance is involved.

same.

If I ship Eleanor with anyone. it's Tahani. :p)

Likewise. I mean, I like Chidi/Eleanor well enough, but I love Tahani/Eleanor.

(Anonymous) 2019-10-18 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally agree!

(Anonymous) 2019-10-18 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally shipped them when I was watching the show, but for some reason during the most recent hiatus, the more I thought about it, the more I kind of felt like their romance didn't work. Or, like, I didn't care about their romance as much as the writers wanted me. I like them interacting, but the whole star-crossed romance for the ages kind of falls apart when I think about it too much.

I go back and forth with this. In season 2, I was really feeling it, but when it actually happened in season 3? Not so much. But they're obviously endgame so I probably should get over wishing they'd give Eleanor a girlfriend.

I like them together well enough, but I'm not super into it. I don't feel like they have much in the way of chemistry, and I'm not entirely sure if I find their compatibility convincing, so I'm more just accepting what the narrative is selling, rather than getting extremely into it.

(Anonymous) 2019-10-18 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
If only it was two white men.

(Anonymous) 2019-10-18 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Aaaaand here we go.

(Anonymous) 2019-10-18 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes

I ship Tahani/Eleanor instead of Chidi/Eleanor because I'm a racist who can't get enough white cock

You figured it out

(Anonymous) 2019-10-18 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, I'll give you a pass. That ship is hot af.

(Anonymous) 2019-10-19 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
I used to ship Eleanor/Tahani, but after season 1 I felt they lost their chemistry. I feel the same way about them now as you do about Eleanor and Chidi.

(Anonymous) 2019-10-19 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
If they were two white men, then yeah, they'd probably have lots of shippers. But you have no reason to think OP would be one of them, if that's your highly ungenerous implication.

(Anonymous) 2019-10-19 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
It's not, and I don't.

(Anonymous) 2019-10-19 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
Micheal and Holt's husband is all the rage, I hear.

spoilers obvs

(Anonymous) 2019-10-18 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
you know what it is for me? as I sit here watching this week's episode...

what it is, is. Half of the "tale" of their relationship is told in flashbacks or suggestions of how it went in one reality. So we don't have a genuine linear progression showing that how they get together is organic, real, and believable. we're being asked to trust that because of the video record of the "I love you" that this is a real thing and happening is natural, when it's pretty hard to believe anything when you're given A and C and expected to believe that B happens as a natural link between the two.

like, with a lot of this show I'm okay with the timeskips and flashbacks and resets but I'm not buying it with all the relationship shit. I don't even like heteronormative relationships in the first place, but now I'm being expected to assume that it happened and will happen again? I'm not here for this.

side note Elenor is the best bi we've got and hell yeah girl you go for it.

But the very first reality was the two of them all the time being together and finding each other adorable?

Tes, they did undermine themselves a bit with this narrative structure.

(Anonymous) 2019-10-19 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
I ship Chidi/Simone AND Simone/Eleanor, but only sometimes Chidi/Eleanor which makes things tricky. Though I thought they were genuinely going to go for a threesome in the first part of the last season, and I'm sad they didn't.

(Anonymous) 2019-10-19 09:45 am (UTC)(link)
Why do people feel compelled to tell everyone how they don't ship things?
