I hate when writers kill off large masses of nameless characters. This is about comics specifically, but could apply to other forms of media. Why am I supposed to care about these people that show up in two panels and then die?

I don't hate it in canon, but I hate when fandom acts like you're supposed to care about those people. If a villain did it, you can't like the villain anymore because they killed all those people, how could you like someone so terrible! Um, I like them because they're an actual character with a name and personality, unlike all the "people" they killed.

It works well as world building IMO, but sucks if the author acts like you should care.

This happens to every character I like, it doesn't matter what media I'm watching. Most of them anyways. I pretend I'm used to it.
