I judge anyone who draws humanized Lion King characters as white

Same

Re: Secrets you WANT made

Inversely, I think anyone can draw any non-human character as any race/colour they want.

You might also enjoy the "it's racist to draw Nick Wilde as a white man" discourse in the Zootropolis corner.

Technically yes, artistically you'd have to draw Nala with a similar skin pallet to her lion counterpart in order to properly identify her as that character.
This isn't so much a play on race, as it is using what traits you have available to create a likeness recognizable despite being a different species.

IMO, Gatsby and Nick are a way better couple than Gatsby and Daisy. I am a teacher and subtly hint this when we read the book in class.

I don't strongly care one way or the other, but I do totally agree with you. And someone could probably, theoretically, write this well enough that I'd love to read it.

I prefer early ContraPoints videos. Partially because they are less flashy and more sincere, but also because I think she was prettier before she started passing as a woman. S!b those videos probably trigger her dysphoria.

I... am definitely not a sports person. I'm not anti-sports, but I don't have coordination, energy, skill, (air), to play anything so I never really got into sports, and while I enjoy baseball games in person, that's the max of my involvement.

So why are almost all of my super favourite animes sports related? Whistle, Prince of Tennis, Eyeshield 21...

On the one hand, I'm really excited that my favorite book is finally getting an adaption. On the other hand, I'm terrified about the casting of the main character. I have very clear ideas in my head about how I've pictured him, and I think it will ruin the adaption for me if their casting is too far off from the way I picture the character.

I am fully able to separate [source] and [adaptation]. If an adaptation is "bad" (to me), it's because I didn't like the acting, filming, etc, whatever, not because it didn't live up to the source material.

I wish more people could go into adaptations with no expectations or more of a 'this is inspired by' mindset so that they enjoy them more, but I can also sort of understand being deeply attached to a source.

I just don't get the deeply offended view. They didn't change things to personally offend you, okay? Some things don't work on screen, for whatever reason. Or maybe they didn't want a line-by-line remake. It's not personaaaal.

FANDOM: the music video for Inside Out by Bryan Adams.

I remembered finding the music video for this song really striking, and weirdly romantic when I was thirteen. I recently rewatched the video and...I still kinda do?

The thing is, I am very aware of how creepy and ~problematic~ it is: The dude’s "love interest" is an unfinished/deactivated sexy robot, and he's taking her apart and getting all fetishy with her detached body parts and stuff. It's supposed to be a metaphor for romantic intimacy, but it's a really fucked up metaphor.

Yet somehow...it still feels intimate and sensual to me. And the fact that it's weird, and unnerving, and body-horrory, just makes it more fascinating to me somehow?

(I think I've just read too many fanfics where one of the characters is a sapient robot and one's a human, and they fall in love, and there's sexy repair scenes and whatnot.)

While being evicted is unfortunate, I think it is in fact reasonable to suggest that if Amina Mucciolo had enough money to turn the apartment that she does not own into a magical fairy unicorn wonderland maybe she should have made sure she had enough money leftover to actually pay the rent first. And no, it is not 'poor shaming' to suggest that maybe she should have foregone some of those aesthetic stuffed animals and color-coded ponies and cute bags in order to pay her damn rent instead.

I'm not interested in fiction that features oppression. Even if it's about the people gaining their freedom. It's too bleak for me.

I hate when writers kill off large masses of nameless characters. This is about comics specifically, but could apply to other forms of media. Why am I supposed to care about these people that show up in two panels and then die?

People who take fiction/fandom way too seriously always whine that the real world is too awful and that's why they get so obsessed with their fandoms. But then they always bring all of the real world awfulness into their fandoms. I believe these people just want to feel miserable all the time, and make others feel miserable too.

I don't care about people writing or drawing 'problematic' things. Gore, smut, gorey smut, whatever, as long as I don't have to see it I don't care.
But people who roleplay doing 'problematic' things... If you torture animals or slaughter children in your weekly D&D get-together, I genuinely do not trust you as a person.
