I had to look up who this was and realized I had seen that apartment on Apartment Therapy quite some time ago, so I don't think the rainbow wonderland is a new thing that sucked up her rent money just now. Also, I recall she was living with a partner at the time of the AP profile, so maybe if that relationship ended, the loss of a second income is the source of her problem?

She's currently married so she does have a second income. She's admitted to being late on her rent multiple times and her landlord took her to court to evict her in 2017 when she first started doing the rainbow princess remodel, a case she lost because she never showed up to defend herself. With the time it can take to evict tenants in California it's actually not out of the realm of possibility that this is that eviction finally coming due (her husband claims on Twitter that the eviction never happened and is a 'weird legal error' but has offered no proof of that).
