Stuff like this doesn't undermine real victims. Anyone who's going to point to some C-list actress potentially lying about or exaggerating someone sexually abusing her to back up their insistence that there's an epidemic of false reporting of sexual abuse already doesn't believe victims. They're just jumping on any convenient excuse to soapbox.

You know how you can tell? Theft has the same incidence rate of false reporting as rape does, and you don't see these fuckers out insisting anyone who reports being mugged is lying, or anyone who reports a break-in staged it for the insurance money.

I think that might be because people don't care much about muggings unless it happens to them, or someone close to them. Even when it's a violent mugging people are meh about it. Everybody cares about rape and sexual assault, though. They care a lot.

Yes it does undermine real victims. And there are a lot of burglary, theft and arson cases where it's first investigated if it was actually insurance fraud- because that's something people do.

We're not talking about what the police do or do not investigate. We're talking about assholes who scream 'but what if she's lying tho' any time a woman speaks up about sexual abuse or assault.

If a woman accuses a men, or anyone, of sexual assault I will support a serious investigation and take her accusations seriously, but I will not hand my trust to just anyone because people like you say I have to because women should be believed no matter what. That's bullshit. My trust has to be fucking earned.
