Her starving herself isn't disgusting, it's sad. She's another victim of the unrealistic standard of beauty in Hollywood.

Starving yourself has more to do than just unrealistic beauty standards. I'm sure that pressure is a part of why it's so prevalent in Hollywood, but it also has a lot to do with desire for control in the midst of the chaotic life of an actor.

i also did say it was sad. but what i found more disgusting was how freely she said it. like it was another fad diet. she should have thought about it before she said it, she has so many young fans who would very much likely starve themselves to look 'beautiful'. it's disgusting and sad.

I can't really think of any other way to say it. You should pity them if anything, not be disgusted by them as if they've made these decisions in a vacuum.

It has nothing to do with how smart you are. You try being in her shoes and doing the same. Who the hell are you to judge what she should be able to do under that kind of pressure? It's not like she ran out and killed babies because the stress was too much, so how can you say she's stupid or a bad person?

In Scenario A, MC confesses to having had an eating disorder. In this case, you should feel sorry for her suffering, not indignant because she just decided to do it for the hell of it.

In Scenario B, her quote about "starving herself" to get thin is an exaggeration that has been taken out of context, and she didn't actually mean she literally starved herself. It's akin to when someone works an hour overtime and whines about having to work all night long. Let's see your source.

I suppose I understand that, but I gotta admit I still think calling it "disgusting" is going a bit far. Anorexia and bulimia are psychological diseases - it's more sad than gross.

Ah, to be fair, I was rude, too. I've done the same thing a thousand times, though...it doesn't sound harsh in your head, and you're just trying to get your secret out in as few words as possible so you don't get a lot of people shouting "TL;DR! -SKIP-" and then everyone's suddenly taking offense and you're like, "WAIT, THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT! it's okay, it's understandable. i just didn't expect people to get so angry about it. and to take it in the wrong way. it's just my opinion. i'm more pissed off at myself for ever admiring mc. i just took it out the wrong way by being too harsh on her apperance, but i do wish we had more actresses like ct in the states because i think the thin epidemic is getting way too out of hand. a size four is considered fat! WTF! and ct just envokes such a positive image, physically and personality-wise.
