People take issue with 50 Shades because it portrays BDSM wrong. People read the book and try to imitate what they read, which results in injuries, not to mention giving people that practice it a bad rep. I think what people mean by "I only read BDSM if done right" is that they don't support or endorse incorrectly practiced BDSM.
