Yes, it's fiction, but back at the height of its popularity we had idiots showing up at my local munch looking for "their Christian Grey". Only to recoil in horror when they discovered that by and large BDSM communities are full of just regular Joes and Janes. They wanted a handsome gazillionaire, not a balding middle-aged plumber with a generous potbelly. And it was extra work keeping an eye on them because there were also predators who kept trying to crash the party and they looked a lot more like the role said idiots were looking to have filled.

That's why I get a little preachy when it seems someone didn't get the memo that fantasy =/= reality. Which does actually happen with startling frequency.
