Good Things Thread

There's a general paucity of good news going around at the moment, so I'll take whatever you've got.

I got on the scales the other day for the first time in months, and I was eight kilos lighter than I thought I was! I'm still super overweight, so it doesn't make that much difference, but it makes me feel a lot better about all the time I've spent on the treadmill!

Wow, good for you! Eight kilos is a lot of progress, even if you do have a lot you can afford to lose!

My niece has started walking! Though, she will only walk to her dad.

An Australian journalist working for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (I have to spell it out because America) was upbraided on Twitter by some little twerp who wanted to complain that the ABC didn't have "balance" in their reporting... on the bushfires. Yes, the bushfires which have burned millions of hectares and killed a number of people.
Said twerp didn't actually explain what the everloving fuck he meant by wanting more "balance", though in context it's likely he wanted every update to end with "Also this is not the fault of the government even though they've been arse-fucking the environment at every turn, dinks".

Anyway.
Said Aussie journo, Laura Tingle, gave this twerp a nice concise response: "Fuck off".
Since then the conservative media have been having the vapours about her lack of 'civility' and suchlike, and everyone else has been cheering raucously because of course we have.

DA

I'm delighted that the Scomo promo people have been having a hard time getting him anywhere near the evacuation centres without people chasing him and calling him a fuckhead on camera.

They really want to get him on camera appearing remorseful with some appreciative citizens to fix their PR problem and the results have been hilarious.

Good on her. Balance, my arse.
I read/look over a bunch of firefighting twitters every morning, just to keep up (I work for the fire department in my town) and we are all watching with horror and sympathy what's been going on in Australia.

I hope you and yours are safe!

Nice! I love it when jerks like that get put in their place like that!

Good for her :). We need more journalists to come right out and say that to those kinds of idiots.

I just started watching Legion and I'm really liking it so far!

Also I went to the dentist in the first time in forever and for the fluorite (or whatever they put on your teeth at the end of the visit) came in mint, and birthday cake flavour. Since it was my birthday the other day I chose the cake, and it didn't taste as bad as I thought it would! Pretty good actually!

I've been in a pretty good mood lately as well. I started playing Vampyr as well (birthday gift!) and I love it so far!

I wanted to go see Clemency and it turns out it's playing somewhere that won't be a 2.5 hour bus ride. And it's also a very nice theater that I haven't been to in years. So that's cool.

It felt like everyone I know except my mom was disappointed by The Rise of Skywalker and it was getting me down and I didn't know how to feel about the movie, but I just went to see it again and I officially like it so now I feel happy.
