Because "fandom lesbian" is a retarded term. Mostly when I've seen it thrown around, it's in a sort of "OH YOU JUST SAY YOU'RE LESBIAN BUT YOU LIKE SLASH SO REALLY YOU JUST WANT COCK AND CAN'T GET A BOYFRIEND YOU FAG HAG" way.

Also... realizing you're into other women through fandom isn't as unrealistic as people seem to think it is, either. Hint: if you see or read about two females kissing/screwing around/having sex, and it turns you on, you may want to reevaluate a little and see if you just might be a bit attracted to women.
