I love a good period drama, so long as there's some real thought put into the writing and it's not just a soap opera with people in historical dress.

Hm, if you're willing to read subtitles (tho they can be a little wonky at times), I'd rec you the Chinese drama Nirvana in Fire.

In fic- femdom, M/F/M fics with more M/M interaction and/or with femdom (currently writing a fic with both because I saw a need, but I'd just like to see them more), threesomes with equal interaction between all three, pairings where the smaller one is more dominant and/or topping, praise kink and voice kink and comfort/gentle domming always and forever my top favorite things in PWPs, more experienced sub tells inexperienced dom what he or she wants and helps them through it, just enthusiastic subs who suggest things and are really into it and not just reluctantly going along, subs who don't have to submit (are stronger in some way) but choose to, and doms who are getting as much out of this as the sub and who are just as turned on and who need this just as much.

in media- more strong female leads, more media with a wide variety of female characters that aren't all samey, more fantasy in general, more fantasy that isn't sex-heavy and nudity-heavy because that stuff always ends up being exploitative and sexist and I just want something different, more straight-up heroes because everyone is an anti-hero now a-days, more full-on villains who revel in it rather than angsty villains who hate what they do or have regret, more female villains, More genre mixing (scifi/fantasy, horror/fantasy, scifi/horror, scifi/mystery, whatever).

I don't actually need more of it because there's already plenty, but boy do I crave strained-but-still-loving brotherly relationships.

I... guess I also want just-as-interesting sisterly or mixed-genders-siblings relationships too? and that means write thought-out fleshed-out female characters... I always want more well-written female characters anyways!

Fake-out Make-outs, preferably between two guys, preferably if it doesn't actually work.
I found one recently which was very well written, and it reminded me just how much I love them. My favourite Marvel moment has to be when Natasha and Steve kissed as a distraction technique, so awesome!

especially the more disproportionate it gets to the actual need for a distraction, and especially especially if the people involved continue to insist that it's necessary for distraction even when it's obviously not and they're just making out

I want to see more plot arcs/plot points/whatever work *because* the protagonist/group was smart and did smart things, not because everyone in the story suddenly had the IQ of a kumquat.

Big Same! I've been especially critical on things like this lately. It's always the same characters making the same mistakes every time! Nearly no one even says anything, or is still surprised that it keeps happening. I've just lost my patience with it.

For fandoms where the canon is a mystery or police procedural, I'd like to see more casefic vs. fics that are just romantic or shippy.

I'd like more adult animation, actually. As a medium. And no I don't mean porn, just... good quality animated movies or series, aimed at an adult audience.

Gay K-Dramas, because I actually really enjoy the narrative structures and melodrama of those shows a lot, but man I'd kill to have the main couple be f/f or m/m, and preferably in one of the doofy supernatural-tinged ones as well because that's my jam.

Tbh there are probably some out there, but not any of the ones I've seen on Netflix which is where I've been watching them(but if anyone has any recs for easy to access LGBT K-Dramas that don't end in Heartbreak I'd love you forever).

Maybe it exists and I just haven’t found it, but I want to see a version of Irene Adler that’s closer to the character and her story than the femme fatale I usually see.

In fic: More f/f. There seems to be more than there used to be but there still isn't very much. I wouldn't mind more f/f in professional media too, though I'll admit there's been significant progress on that front.

More well-written female characters that actually have a purpose other than to just be some dude's love interest.

Less cliche, cookie cutter het romances in EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME (and for the het romances that there are to be better written and not super predictable). More LGBT characters in things that aren't specifically LGBT-based things.
