I'd love to see classic fantasy things in the modern world.
I've read lots of urban fantasy like that. Granted, most is much (much, much) more iddy than it is classic literature, but they are fun reads. I wouldn't mind more of it, though, as I love modern takes on fae and elves and the like.

Is any of it any good, though? Most of what I've tried in the genre hasn't been good. Also, I'd like more of a mix of of genres than I've seen. Like, urban fantasy feels very modern with fantasy races interpreted and written very modern. I'd like to see them written more classically and see more of thee traditional fantasy tropes in a modern setting.

Good as in I enjoyed it? Yes. Good as in memorable and likely to stand the test of time? Not so much.

Like there is the Black Dog series by Hailey Edwards. (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00P23SDQS ) I don't remember too much of it, as I've been working on her potentiate series, but I remember liking it, and it had some more traditional fae stuff.

I again only remember liking the series and that it had fae in modern times, but I read all of the Changeling series by Glynn Stewart (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B077G33P2C ).

And I also enjoyed the October Days series by Seanan Macguire that the other person mentioned. (https://smile.amazon.com/Rosemary-Rue-October-Daye-Book-ebook/dp/B002N83HAW/ ) I know she can be a controversial author, though.

I do think that most of what I've read is more modern than classical, though, which wouldn't be for you. I only grabbed a few from my more recently read authors. I was just more comisserating that I enjoyed that as well.

Actually those look interesting. Putting them on my list. I do like straight-up modern stuff too. I just would sometimes like to see traditional takes on elves, dwarves, etc. rather than them being reimagined all the time. But I'll do any well-written fantasy really. Most of the urban fantasy I've seen has been romance stuff and more romance than fantasy, and that is not my cup of tea at all. These look cool though.

Yeah, I definitely hear you on the "more romance than fantasy" issue. So many books go that route, and I'm like "but I want to hear more about the fae politics/werewolf war/evil assassin/whatever, not generic romance!" I will often end up reading them anyway, as at least they have a bit to them and I read a ton, but mostly they are meh.
