One of the ones I remember best from when I was a kid was Starscream in Transformers: Armada. We used to watch it before going to school, and that was I think the first and only time I went to school blubbering over a fictional character. It was probably the shot of Starscream's final attack blinking out before it can reach Unicron that did it, though as a kid it was a bit hard to verbalise the bit of tragic futility that added to the moment.

That scene also forever locked Armada!Starscream as the one true Starscream in my head (Armada was the first iteration of the show I saw), which made seeing G1 years later a little odd.
