It's still early in the afternoon here, so I can't totally say. I'm about to take a frittata out of the oven and I'm totally sure that I fucked it up completely, but we'll see.

I was going to reinvent my life and decide where to go from here and start those drawings and practice my instrument and finish reading that book and go for a walk and finish up a bit of work and maybe meal prep some soup

I spent all of it in front of my computer browsing old tumblrs and downloading fanfic.

Not feeling so hot. Trying to prepare for job interview on Monday and for competition I'm hosting on Tuesday. About to take a nap because I'm really tired and my brain is saying we need a break.

Pretty good. I did laundry, cleaned out a bit, sewed new bits on a custom plushie, finally got to watch Moonlight
oh but then I just learned that an old singer I liked a lot in my formative years just died so I'm a bit sad but heh, he was 93 and he passed away in his sleep so it's not a bad way to go so... I can be grateful for his life and his singing career and just respectfully accept his passing?

Rough. On Saturdays we usually have a few beers while watching a film and I really didn't drink that many yet woke up mild-medium hungover. I think it's because I had to work yesterday (I don't usually work weekends) and maybe didn't eat as well as I normally do on a Saturday.

And then we had to go to Ikea to pick up a couple of things (mostly some new bedsheets) and for about a second or two, I legit wished my morning hangover had killed me.

Decent. I'm pushing my way through a dull bit in FFXIV Stormblood where all the momentum got sucked out of the story and it's like... okay, so we're sidequesting with turtles... how many weeks has our friend been in a torture dungeon while we've been sidequesting with turtles?

Mine’s not done yet; I filled the trashcan with brush for pickup tomorrow. Still mad my part of the city doesn’t have green recycling. Wish I could use a woodchipper without risking my fingers, but I’m a klutz.

Showered, walked to the nursery, bought some flowers and strawberry plants. Gonna go to the thrift store and buy a white shirt for ushering a play tonight; I never wear white otherwise, so my one or two white usher shirts always end up tinted from the rest of my laundry. I don’t feel like cooking so I think I’ll get a burrito before I head to the theatre. And I have tomorrow off, yay! I’m gonna go hiking and probably do some gardening.

being messed around by a lot of people and getting treated like a free therapy service by family and friends. Plus one friend who insisted on meeting up today, planning it weeks ago, then completely ignored my messages asking if she stilled wanted to meet up today.

On the upside I'm snacking on some delicious rosemary crackers and catching up on my youtube subscriptions, so I'm good now.

Pretty good! I got some laundry done, unloaded the dishwasher, cuddled with my new cat Maya for a little bit and then dad and I went to see Birds of Prey, which I loved SO SO MUCH HOLY SHIT I AM SO FUCKING GAY. Afterwards we went to the grocery store and got several boxes of discounted Valentine's candy in addition to our regular groceries. All in all, I have no complaints!

Is there a name for this kink?

I have recently realized that I find it really hot when two (or more) characters are doing something they consider taboo but they're so turned on that they just can't stop themselves. Even if what they're doing is not a kink of mine, or even if it is something completely vanilla, as long as they think it's "forbidden" but they like it too much to stop, I'm all over it.

I've been tentativelly calling it "it's so wrong but it feels so good," but there's gotta be something better than that.

Hell yes, I very strongly feel this. My number one kink has always been the “we shouldn’t, but we can’t stop” kink, in almost all forms, but it’s a difficult kink (or kink set? kink family?) to talk about, because it’s not about any one specific thing - it’s a mindset kink. It’s not what the characters are doing, it’s how they think and feel about what they’re doing.

One branch of it that particularly gets me is when the characters keep telling themselves they’re going to stop in a minute, they just need a little more. But of course they don’t stop.

I recently got into a taboo pairing for the first time in like fifteen years, and I couldn’t believe how much hotter the fic got, simply because all of a sudden my number one kink was everywhere.

Is preferring educated people a kind of bigotry?

Not asking purely for me - a fic author is adamant that (at least in-universe) acting agencies wanting/requiring actors to have degrees in acting before they can be employed counts as them being "bigoted fools". One part of me wonders if there is an element of classism in there, as richer people are more likely to be able to afford acting degrees; another, larger part of me thinks it's more a matter of instilling some freaking quality control.

Thoughts?

I think you're right that classism may be an element under the surface, but that it's probably more an attempt at quality control (and also at just plain old regular control).

However, if an agency won't even accept applications (demo reel, resume, and headshots) from actors who don't have diplomas in acting, then that does seem like total bullshit to me. Like, there's a difference between "We prefer people with diplomas, but your application was well put together, you have a great look, and your demo reel impressed us, so we'll take you," and, "We don't accept applications from people without diplomas; come back when you have one."

It depends on the context, right?

Like, does having a degree, or whatever other credential, actually speak to how much ability a person has? or is it just a marker of their skill at attaining the credentials? If having a degree isn't closely tied to skill and ability, then it probably is just classism.

Why is it that my kink preferences can sometimes change dramatically depending on what ship I'm reading. Like, humiliation is normally a do not want kink for me. But make the ship Kylo/Hux and suddenly humiliation, as long as it is combined with praise, is the hottest thing ever. On the other hand, normally I really love playing with power dynamics and when the more boss character/bigger and stronger character is more submissive except when it comes to my OTP Melkor/Sauron. With them I'll play with the dynamics sometimes but mostly I very much stick to Melkor being in charge in the bedroom, though admittedly I think their work dynamics were more fluid and Sauron was never one to just do as he was told.

It feels like most people have clear cut preferences, and while I do have favorite kinks, it feels like I'm much more fluid and more go with what works for the particular ship and how I see those characters and their relationship I guess?

So maybe my real favorite kink is in-character porn?
