I feel ya. I finally woke up from my 10 year weaboo phase...what, 3 years ago? And ever since I haven't been able to get OBSESSED with something like I used to, and I miss it. Kinda painfully, y'know? It's hard not being part of a group fangasming over the same things and to be anticipating new chapters or episodes with squealish glee.

118. It sounds like the movie was done so well that it really spoke to you -- even if it was in a way that totally freaked you out. No reason why you should like it, but it seems that it affected a lot of people so much that they react with love, while you couldn't handle how visceral (and possibly downright plausible) it is. No biggie, but just pointing out that they probably love it for the same reasons you hate it.

It can be hard if you're still in the fandom, but it's not impossible. 139. Rigid seme/uke roles in series make me headdesk less than them being in doujinshi. Since at least in BL there is an EFFORT made to make it part of that character's character, and it's actually canon. Doujinshi where one character is suddenly OMG SEME and the other is OMG UKE usually involves the creator just... completely throwing out characterization for the sex, resulting in sometimes well-characterized interactions turning into Random Seme Cliche A/Random Uke Cliche B. :| I'm lucky to have found some doujinshi that switches it up, though usually these are at least semi-cracky doujin and the ones on the bottom still make iyaaa~an uke faces during sex. XD ~~Though to be fair, the one I'm thinking of, the ones on the top did half the time too...~~

Uh... what now? Seriously, that's. Ridiculous. If the entire point of the show is covered in the show, do they now have to cover every single possible other thing in order not to be a weak show? I'd seriously like to see a show that covers every single possible issue that any human could come up with, has action, horror, sweetness, sadness, and pairs up every single character in every single combination. Or, well, no I wouldn't, because it would suck. But I'd like to see them try to cover all their bases, because that would be hilariously bad. Sorry, hon, but the fact that I personally like drama doesn't mean a crack manga needs to include Deep Thoughts; the fact that I personally like some side characters that the story isn't about doesn't mean the focus should turn to them; the fact that I like a certain pairing or other doesn't mean it needs to, or even should be, canon.

For voting on (even voting no on) such a horrible proposition because of fandom instead of actual gay people, for shipping incest (automatically, even!), for daring to like rape fic, for loving mpreg but apparently lumping all anime fans into the "omg they suck!" category (what the fuck at you), and for choosing to pretty much insult almost everyone in a fandom. The first one is meh, but whatever got you to vote "no" is pretty much okay with me; the second and third don't deserve all the crap they're probably going to get, at all; the fourth and fifth either need to be more careful with their phrasing abd the shit they get from this is gonna be pretty much fully understandable.

I guess since I didn't want to tl;dr everyone about my thought processes, it means I didn't vote for the right reasons. But, whatever. I meant that fandom made me change my views on gay marriage. As in, without fandom, I wouldn't have thought twice about that proposition, I would've voted yes. My involvement in fandom helped to shape my beliefs in a different way. That sounded confusing, but made sense in my head. I didn't vote no so Jensen and Jared could come to Florida and get married. I voted no so people that actually are gay could.

101 - I've been there before, and it's a bit like that now except it's not so much that I haven't got a fandom, but it's that I'm not terribly active in one at the moment. The solution is to go out and think about real life and your friends and all. I'm fine with going out, but if the only thing that's filling my head is thoughts of real life then I just end up being depressed :( Hope you find a new one soon.

To be fair, I'd venture to say that most of us who have fandom stuff like keychains, buttons, stickers, etc, aren't doing it to advertise. We're just doing it because we love the series and the merch that goes with it. I have a few Reborn keychains, a Trigun one, and some TWEWY pins, and whenever I go out with them it's just because I like them.
