What are your pet peeves on the road?

People who use their flashers as an excuse to get away with just about anything. If you can only go 30 MPH, drive on the access road, not the highway. And for heavens sake, pull over to the side of the parking lot or the road, don't just hang out in the middle (if you can I mean, but today someone could because they were just hanging out with their flashers in the middle of the parking lot to pick someone up, they drove off a couple minutes later).

People who figure out what exit they do or don't want too late and then swerve over to get onto or off the exit. A guy today figured out he didn't actually want to exit and swerved over 2 lanes plus the gap between the exit and the highway to get back onto the highway.

Trucks who do 50MPH on the highway and get in the left hand lane just to pass a couple of feet in front of another truck. Really? Stop being an asshole.

Trucks who don't have their cargo secured and are spewing it on everyone around them.

Tailgaters. We're all going somewhere. Patience. Safe distance is a thing. Stop riding up on me and others just because you're impatient. We're all in the same traffic.

People who don't use turn signals or wait to turn them on until they are already turning.

A friend of mine used to have a sticker on her car that said, "Visualize using your turn signal." That was her big pet peeve, too.

People who think having a baby or little kid gives them the superpower of walking into moving traffic and not getting hurt. You'd think the kid would make them more careful. Nope. It has the opposite effect.

Old people as well. The amount of grannies and gramps I've seen who thrust their cane horizontally in from of them into the road and just walk as if it were a wand that repelled oncoming traffic...

People that don't use their turn signals. It is such a habit for me, I use my turn signals when navigating parking lots.

A pet peeve of mine towards drivers as a walker. People will stop at places without a stop sign or even when they have a GREEN light and gesture for me to cross the street. No you insane person, that is how we all die.

oh, for real on the pedestrian thing. when I'm walking or jogging, I obey the laws pertinent to my situation and that often means waiting at a crosswalk, which is fine. both the people running lights and the people stopping when they have the right of way are going to get all of us killed at some point.

I mean... basically everything at this point?

General
-People using a phone for non-GPS reasons (unless obviously it is an emergency). This includes the ones who aren't paying attention when the light turns green, and of course you're not supposed to honk at them for that reason, but even if you do, they only wake in time for THEM to make the light and for the rest of you to get screwed.

-People who do that thing at the stoplight where they stop like 3 cars' length behind the light or person in front of them, then inch forward every five seconds. They're usually on their phones or just very stupid.

-People who don't plan their trip for shit and DEMAND ENTRY ACROSS FOUR LANES OF TRAFFIC TO GET TO THAT LEFT OR RIGHT TURN A MERE 20 FT AHEAD

-People who don't use turn signals

-People who dart into spaces with little or no signaling, especially at the red light. Stop forcing people to adjust your speed just because you wanted to save 1.2 seconds. (Though I admit the lane changing without signaling is likely due to other drivers who never let them in. But even so, nobody is obligated to let you in, though it's nice if they do.)

-People who let in others who clearly do NOT have the right of way. This includes people who demand YOU go even when THEY have the right of way. No, dumbass, I will not risk an accident or a cop who just happens to have a stick up his ass that day.

-People who go slow on main roads, but fly like demons in parking lots or residential areas. No, it's just a place where people and animals walk. Fuck 'em, right? Serves 'em right for thinking they have the right to go anywhere on foot.

-People who see you coming, pull in front of you, and feel no need to do anything but coast there at 2 mph in traffic, forcing you to go around them.

-People approaching who see you waiting to turn right, and the moment YOU have space, they change lanes into your space so that you can't turn.

-People who fly down one lane before a merge in order to cut in front of everyone who moved when they were supposed to. Though I admit this may be an issue of lacking proper zipper lane instruction.

-Basically anybody who doesn't seem aware that there is a world out there outside their vehicle, and that they are basically driving a weapon that weighs 1 to 2 tons or more.

Freeway shit
-People too scared to pass an 18 wheeler/vehicle that is not safe to linger around

-People who obstruct in the passing lane, either creating a bottleneck or forcing others to pass them in the slow/traffic lane.

-People who start to pass you, then stop, forcing you in their blind spot until YOU change speed

-Cunts who ride side by side with you, then when you change YOUR speed, they do the exact same thing so that you are dangerously riding together again. Fuck you. Fuck you. FUCK YOU PEOPLE WHO GODDAMN DO THIS IT IS DANGEROUS YOU FUCKING PIECES OF SHIT.

-People who ride your ass in the slow lane

-People who don't tie their shit down. Oh thanks, I wanted that debris on my windshield and that mattress on my hood.

STOP DRIVING BEHIND ME WHILE I AM REVERSING INTO A PARKING SPOT WHAT THE FUCK WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING?!

Also as a specific event, my only speeding ticket is for 48 in a 40 zone so now I never do more than 42 on that road, and this woman tail-gated me, and then passed me (which is fine) but didn't SPEED UP to actually pass me so she's in the wrong lane next to me and I had to slam on the brakes so SHE didn't hit the car coming in the other direction. Should have fucking let her hit it.

The main road I take to work is a two lane expressway up a mountain with one hairpin turn. It’s littered with crosses because lots of people have died there and there are numerous signs saying “Do Not Pass”. What do a lot of assholes do? Pass me on the right on a narrow strip of dirt and gravel, which forces me to brake so I can let them in before the dirt ends. Or they pass me on the left and again, I have to slow down to let the speed demon in or I’m gonna get involved in a three car pileup. I’ve seen dozen of nasty accidents on that highway and people still drive on it like they’re invincible. I hate those people.

On the freeway, I hate people who, after seeing you turn on your blinker, decide to speed up because god forbid another car gets in front of them.

Not using indicators.
Cutting corners (seriously, what's the hurry?).
Running red lights.
Blocking intersections in heavy traffic.
Using a phone while driving.
Not indicating in time when exiting a roundabout.
Overtaking at an intersection.
Overtaking near a sign that signals a speed limit change.
And so on and so on.

...The drivers here suck.

The people who see the sign for a lane closing ahead and don't even try to get over, just assume someone will let them in.

People at the front of a line at a traffic light who are NOT paying attention. You are at a traffic light, it WILL change. When it hits green, be ready to GO.

The people who seem damn determined to stay in your blind spot. It may be hard to guess exactly where a particular driver's blind spot is, but the general area is not hard to know.

Oh god that first one, I feel it. And they don't signal either, just assume YEP YOU HAVE TO LET ME IN, SEE THE LANE IS ENDING.

I will pretend I am fucking BLIND if you do not even attempt to signal.

You're actually supposed to drive to the end and only merge at the very last possibility. It's called zip merging and is supposed to lower the likelihood of traffic jams. The people who wildly pull over before the end of a road and those who refuse to let those at the end merge are doing it wrong.

Zip merging only works when it is planned for and everyone is expecting it. All the tests done that say it is the best way were done in controlled environments where it was expected. That is almost never the case on the road.

Idk, I've always seen it work quite well as long as there are no morons who refuse to let people in even though they see very clearly the lane is ending. But maybe people in my country just can drive.

At least in my experience here in the US, people in both lanes refuse to alternate. So on the one hand you have people in the continuing lane not letting anyone in, but on the other hand if someone in the ending lane manages to get in then the next three cars from that lane insist on going next, making it less likely for the cars in the other lane to want to let anyone in. No one here knows what a zipper merge here or really cares. So nice in theory, but in practice isn't working.

People who park in the middle of places which are not parking spots in order to chat on their phone. Last week I was leaving this small shopping plaza going around the side, where there is room enough for one car going each way to pass each other, and this idiot in a van was just parked in my lane not moving. When I honked at them they waved their hand for me to go past, even though cars were coming the other way and I would have hit someone. I kept honking at them before I was finally able to get around but seriously, if you need to chat on your damn phone park in an actual space. This also goes for people who park in front of supermarkets to chat or especially those who block handicapped spaces while chatting. Either get off your phone or park properly.

Also people who think their right on red somehow trumps my green left turn arrow, especially when they make an illegal turn into the far lane and almost hit me.
